OFFICIAL NFL THREAD 2024-25: Week XI

Never seen joe run half that distance. Giants need their *** whooped.

This is a copout... If they truly didn't have faith in him, he'd be on another team. Regardless of when they paid him, he got paid.
Market dictates qb paydays. Dak was an mvp candidate for a lot of last year. No franchise walks away from that. We see teams with terrible qb play and we all know they don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell at a winning season.

It’s poor management

But they have to be waiting for the very last minute or resorting to using the franchise tag for some odd reason

But if they just paid the man when he was eligible, that would have allowed them to better manage the cap and spend elsewhere on the roster

This. Folks do this with just about every new QB contract with little thought to the alternative. So, what? Let him go, lose a few games so you can get a Trevor Lawrence? There's really not very many guys in the world who could be a top 20 QB in the NFL.

Idk... Having a mid/above average QB in a rookie contract>>>>>>having a mid/above-average QB on a 60 million dollar salary. At least you could build the rest of your team up

Except there's no guarantee you get "mid." I agree if the success rate was higher, but it feels a bit less than 50/50.

I feel you and I can see that perspective but paying 60 million a year to mid QBs doesn't seem to be conducive to a team's future. The league will figure something out eventually because they can't keep paying guys like Dak and Trevor all this money when guys like Baker and Geno are making way less and still have competitive teams.

Not exactly.. dak got the Washington Kirk treatment without Dallas letting him hit the market eventually

There is no other example like dak

Even in the situation with Lamar, the claim was how much he wanted to reset the market by which wasn’t an issue after the Deshaun deal and then they saw the hurts deal.. the quickly came back to the table to beat couple of the subsequent deals that got done

But with dak and even Kirk, they weren’t trying stand on a ‘Jamar’ type principle
