OFFICIAL NFL OFFSEASON THREAD 2024-25: Where the losers dwell

These brothas have to be more selective when taking these jobs

Man AP didn’t have the coaching resume to get a nfl head coaching job anyway. Passing up on the raider job would’ve been dumb af.

I’ll say this tho: giving Pierce to job over Patrick Graham was kinda messed up. Pierce has no experience as a coordinator. His whole premise was CEO type coach but he failed hella badly at hiring his OC. Patrick Graham’s contract expired and he was going to bounce this off-season. What was pierce going to do at OC & DC when he doesn’t have any experience calling plays himself?

My ideal candidates:

1. Ben Johnson - I’d offer a blank check but he’s not coming to Vegas

2. Vrabel - I think he’s locked in with the patriots

3. Brian Flores - a lot of baggage but I’m down
4. Liam Coen - he’s done a good job in Tampa
5. Todd Monken - underrated but kinda old
6. Aaron Glenn - I think he goes to the saints

AP was a dead man walking. Lost his starting RB, midseason lost his best player in Tae and went into the year with Minshew as his starter.

Letting Jacobs go was dumb if they were trying to compete.

Starting minshew over AOC (AOC isn’t even good but he’s at least like 20-25 range, minshew is just trash) was dumb af.

Went to war with 17 - that was dumb af

Lost Wilkins to a season ended in week 4. Lost crosby to an ankle injury early. In a division with crazy coaches and good QBs. This job isn’t attractive to me. You’re not beating mahomes for the afc west title. It’s a tough spot.

Teams who have perennial top 5-10 draft picks year after year ALWAYS fire these dudes. Just like in the NBA. It’s laughable at this point:rollin :lol :rollin

Teams like Jacksonville Jaguars , Sacramento Kings, etc. why are these franchises so prone to firing dudes when these organizations are known losers

in one way I feel bad for AP. He had a ton of injuries to the team that was already crippled by a QB.

But on the other hand, he didnt play the best QB on the roster to start the season and he made a ton of mistakes with respect to clock management and two minute drills and it just continued to happen throughout the season.

He also hired Luke Getsy to be his OC, which was really the beginning of the end.
My exact feelings

It don’t matter. Dudes are given 2 year leashes in this current iteration of the NFL.

The turnover in the NFL is ridiculous. At least dudes still get paid
The problem is that it is rare for brothas to get that second HC job after they lose the first. Your first job might be the only time you get that job so make it count.

Vrabel is officially in play now for Vegas, fully expect TB to push for him.

I'm surprised though,he came into a situation QB-less, low expectations and a locker room that loved him. What changed?

Also didn't Crosby only extend his deal because of AP? What happens there now?

Will never not feel some way about first time HC's getting just 1 year though...

Just like rookie QBs shouldn't be expected to hit the ground running, neither should rookie HCs IMO.

I disagree to a degree.. I think you have to set a guy up to succeed in both spots

So say you hire the hot shot OC.. get an experienced DC, hopefully with HC experience or at least like assistant HC.. but could even get a former HC for OC.. but make sure you have experience throughout the staff

Doug pederson and wentz are great examples as the quality of the coaches around them diminished both guys looked worse.. and eagles learned and now we got sirianni getting babied by both OC and DC

Maxx didn't extend, and definitely not just for AP. Raiders preemptively just gave him a raise because everyone already knew we was gone be on that ********, had to try and keep him happy some how 😂🤦🏾‍♂️🥹

They did AP dirty.
Ehhhh.
Maxx Crosby and Devante Adams forced Mark
Davis’ hand to hire AP (with 0 experience).

It was a feel good story last year how they ended up after McDaniels **** the bed. I think the inexperience AP had led him to make bad/questionable decisions with personnel and on the field.

Let’s see wtf Brady can do **sigh**

Does anybody see a scenario where Ben Johnson doesn’t leave the Lions again?

He’s isn’t the odds favorite for the Jaguars job anymore as of yesterday and I don’t think the Bears job is as attractive as advertised.

Need them to take their time and do due diligence by taking those other meetings before deciding on this.

No need to to rush at this stage especially if you're already Vrabel's no.1 option.

If you're gonna publicize your courtesy RR meetings >D, might as well go through the full process.

Pete to Chicago coaching a USC QB is something I kinda like for them :lol

He would be able to bring on a credible coaching staff and help build up a new culture imo.

If they can't snag Ben Johnson, that should be the next option
