Official New Balance Thread *sizing info for different models on first page*

They def need to bring back that perf option.  They should've never taken it off the site.

Can OG NB1 heads confirm/ or check an assumption I have about the rotation of "premium upgrades". The perforated leather option typically becomes a thing during the summer months if i'm not mistaken? Lurking older discussions and instagram photos, most of the shoes and people who've done perforations uploaded either during the summer months of 2014 and 2015, or either stated it was available around july-august-september (might be pushing it).. It's an option that I personally would jump on in a heartbeat... and perforated leather wasnt an option when I got into NB's heavy in the fall of last year.
NB1 launched summer of '15.  they launched with perforated suede toebox option/upgrade, then took it away.  I regret not making a pair with a perforated toe, especially with that coral color.

The pictures of perforated shoes must have been GR's (i.e. the 'Distinct' series of '14) and older models then. I do understand that theres a visual aesthetic to perforated suede that's very iconic and sought after by us sneaker consumers... But seeing perf. suede mainly on exclusive collaborations the past year says something about NB's business strategy and who they accomidate these 'options' for in the long run (in my mind). I have developed a strong opinion towards that "premium nubuck" option they tried to force feed us for like a good solid 3-4+ months.

I think they're just trying to build hype.  i'm sure it'll come back... but when it does it'll probably be for a limited time like the nubuck, horween, and denim options.

Has anyone noticed a stitching error on there Butterscotch 997's? I've been looking at pairs on the bay and every photo I come across has the same sloppy line of stitching that extends across the leather segment on each side of the collar near the tongue. Some pairs there is actually a curving of the extra row of stitching that def should not be there. I'm not exactly sure how this would happen on so many pairs unless the people selling theirs are doing so cause of that. If you look closely in photos on the bay you'll see what I mean.

When NB started the NB1 program last spring/summer they stated that the premium option (perf toe) was a one time limited duration offering. Not saying its impossible they bring it back but based on what they said when the started the program it seems unlikely.

NB would be foolish if they didn't bring it back. Even just for a limited amount of time again.

Everyone wants it back and I'm sure their NB1 sales would jump up if they had it.

I agree with all of this. I would def do another pair.

I'm DYING to do a pair but I'd like them to open up the color pallet a bit and to do suede toebox or full leather. Doesn't have to be horween but at least better than Jordans

@ Dude who PM'd me...Replied :)

I havnt and wont be doing any pairs until perf suede is available on the toebox. If your reading NB, bring it back and take my money lol

Didn't people have some issues with the perforations being misaligned and then taking advantage of NB's return policy?

nah that was bad/sideways mesh and it was actually an issue that NB should have and did fix.

Then people tried to take advantage of everything else with NB1

yes.  i know lots of people took advantage of this.  they all got a code for a free pair of NB.

Its not taking advantage of a company when they provide you with a defective product.

I had problems with 2 of my NB1 pairs. One was the mesh issue that many people saw at the rollout of the program. My pair had the toebox mesh crooked as well as the two shoes didnt have the same pattern. It was a huge eyesore. The second was on a perf toe pair that got lost in their system for over a month and then it came not how it was designed online.

NB did provide great customer service and fixed both issues. That said, i dont see how, in any way, I took advantage of them. They provided a faulty product and replaced it.

so mad I didn't bite on these before they dropped the horween

these and your "pigeons" are like my favorite nb1s thus far
Appreciate that hommie!
Yeah I see what your saying about people going out of their way to find problems with there pair just to get a free pair or discount or whatever. Some cases deserve replacement while others do not. That decision is the job of the NB customer service reps.

I do think that they had alot of issues at the beginning and people saw how good of a replacement policy they had and ordered with the intent of squeezing a free pair out of the deal.
