Basically. It's all about establishing a sustainable business model. And for the people saying it's the teams' fault for handing out bad contracts, that's only partially true. Better personnel decisions certainly can be made, but the NBA labor market is what it is, you can't all of a sudden try to force down salaries by offering less money because the next team will just offer a contract in line with the inflated market of the past decade or so. It's simple economics. That's why their needs to be league-wide change via the CBA.

Should the players continually agree to rules that essentially protect owners from themselves? Should David Stern promise/guarantee that these owners will make a profit regardless of how poorly run those franchises are? Both sides are at fault here.

True that change needs to take place, but is it really going to help curtail the stupidity of the Sterlings, Kahns, and hurt feelings of the Gilberts of the NBA? I don't think so. I could see if it was all the owners unified against the players, but it's even dissension among themselves. They thought the last CBA after '99 was going to help a lot and the Angel of Stern promised that all the teams would turn profits despite having incompetent management which just isn't true.

There's just too many teams now that have little to no chance of being competitive ever no matter what they do. I'm just pissed that I as a fan have to suffer.

Gives Butler longer to recover. Dirk more rest, and Kidd wont have to play a full 82 games.
Did you forget the schedule in 99?

It was common to play back-to-back-back games to go along with four games in five nights.
I was gonna say

It got nutty when teams were playing 3 nights in a row and then like 4 or 5 games in 5 or 6 nights

Yeah, thats my bad. I didnt realize how many times 3 nights in a row happened. Just looked at the schedule
