anyhow, my point is about orlando's real negiotation strength in any deal for dwight howard (and hence how i think any sensible GM would respond, at least try to counteroffer before giving into any demands.. if i know the other teams can't offer much, why should i go overboard with my offer?)

orlando's options are:

1) accept the best offer from the 1,2,3 or 4 teams that howard says he will sign an extension with (so it only has to be the best offer out of those teams)

2) hope some team makes a nets/deron type move

3) pray that the new CBA has some sort of 'franchise tag'

4) say screw you, none of the teams you want to go to have the cap space to sign you outright (obviously this is directed at LA)

SO how much would LA be able to offer dwight if he becomes a free agent? that 20 million off the books from bynum and odom wouldnt count in trying to sign him? what if they go the miami route and trade away all the trash like brown, blake, fisher to free more up?

and could you see howard going to a team for less money?

i still think the lakers, nets, and the heat would be the only trade worthy places dwight would go. i wouldnt mind seeing him in okc. westbrook, ibaka or perkins, and a draft pick or two....

Even if you take out Bynum and Odom's contracts for 2012-2013, the Lakers are still on the books for $67 million...

Im not even looking for Gil to beast next year honestly... I'd be happy if he was just a consistant role player helping his team win.

So that's the Simmons deal (2, Flynn and Pekovic for Gortat, Dudley and 13) HOOD was talking about?

Man, I'm good.

I'm upset that the Hornets aren't involved anywhere in there.

Is anyone really worth trading for on Detroit? Maybe Ben Gordon but...I don't know

I've heard from a few places (not all of them reputable) that the Hawks and Magic are in talks, along with a third team (probably Portland) to complete a deal that would include Josh Smith.
If the Smith thing is true (not getting my hopes up yet), then Orlando's FO is clearly doing everything they can do to keep Dwight.
