I'd just like to point out Elton Brand was 29 years old and coming off a torn Achilles' tendon when he landed a $79 million contract from the Sixers in 2008. Andrew Bynum will get paid next summer, especially with a projected dozen teams under the cap.
What's paid though? Slightly over 10 mil? Sure. The team that gives him a MAX deal deserves to struggle for the foreseeable future.

His career is about to be over by the age of 25 though...He had one year where he played over 60 games. So yea I guess Drew is better than Bynum but the point is they are both guys who's body was not made for the wear and tear of the NBA.
And Oden would have been better than Bynum if he could have actually ever touched the court or stayed healthy.

Oden had zero offensive game and was a fouling machine. You can only speculate what he "would have been" but he played only 82 games for his career. They both have bad knees but one guy could play and the other really couldnt

I wouldn't mind seeing Bynum walk after this season. He's gonna be too big of a liability to carry around.

Three games and he's been nothing but stellar? Let's look at the next two games, 2-6 and a loss... 2-9 and a loss. STELLAR! In the other two losses... 2-10 then 4-15, are we seeing a trend here? Only one other game did Young shoot that poorly and the team win, and that was against the Hornets

One game featured one of the most popular teams on Niketalk with their new coach. And it was on NBA TV. The other game featured the other most popular team on Niketalk as they continued to have the best record in the league. And you're wondering why we didn't talk a 76ers win over Toronto?

If the 76ers were the Nash-D'Antoni Suns out there or if they were the best team in the league and no one talked about them, then yes.. your complaint has some value. But they're a good defensive team without an exciting star player. No one is saying don't support your team or like your players... but Nick Young is one-dimensional and not that great at it.

Like that has ever stopped teams from making dumb decisions anyway.... This league gave Kwame Brown 9-10 mil a year you are out your mind if someone isnt going to risk giving bynum a near max deal

Oden talk? Really? :lol

Anyone fill Solarius in on Pau defending Brook last night and not Dwight?

I called this Bynum stuff in the pre-season, he's just slightly better than Oden. I wouldn't be surprised if he never touched an NBA floor again. He has like zero cartilage in both knees and had torn muscles, that's not a good sign for his potential playing future.

:rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

I tried.

Thank you. I wasn't trying to do it from my phone. But I laughed at Brook "torching" the DPOY when Dwight wasn't even on the screen during each long range set shot. :lol

"Slightly Better" was the wrong term, but you get my point...

I wouldnt give Bynum a dollar to be frank...I mean, I know teams will but thats cause they can't help themselves

I kind of see your point, but Elton Brand didn't have a history filled with injuries, odd ball behavior and bad decision making. He also had been a very consistent, high level performer throughout his entire career. So, at the time, I wouldn't have considered giving Brand a big contract to carry the same risk as giving one to Bynum. That said, I'm sure somebody will give Bynum a contract just because he's a legit 7 footer with a post game.

Sixers get no love in this thread i kno yall seen Nick Young balling out there lastnight, and my man J.Rich was such a great pickup for us.

We don't deserve any love right now. We traded away a top 5 SF and our last two 1st rounders for a guy that hasn't played a game yet and might not even play a game with us for all we know. But then again Iguodala wasn't getting us anywhere, his contract sucked balls, Collins never played Vucevic and Harkless would have been another player he would have made into a redshirt player. But even as a Sixers fan I can't fathom how boring the team is most the time. Jrue and Thad are the only players worth really watching. They're a very good defensive team but without a true superstar on the team most people don't enjoy watching the drag it out style they play. ESPN also took a dump on us by giving us our first two nationally televised games of the year against the damn Hornets and Jazz....anybody with a brain knew neither of those games would be very exciting.

Wasn't expecting that, but props. It's crazy how productive Vucevic looks right now btw...

What kind of love is that one guy looking for? A middle of the road team who is 3 games over 500 through the first two weeks? Lol come on. If you had a fully healthy team and played in the west, I'd have severe doubts that you'd even get out of the first round.

Let's not even start on how disappointing Evan Turner has been. We've had an extremely easy schedule so far and I really haven't been impressed with what we have done.

Unless some damning doctor's report comes out about Bynum's knees, some team will give him close to a max contract in the free agent market. The only team that this would scare off is the 76ers because they're dealing with the knees and his attitude right now, but most of those other teams with cap space will likely spend on the potential to have a true franchise center even with the huge risk involved.

I can't wait to see this Bradley Beal vs Harrison Barnes comparison in a few years.

Barnes :hat

Random but I'm really feeling this commercial.

It's really not suprising to me at all that Vucevic is playing well. It's actually moreso suprising that he isn't averaging even better numbers honestly. I think he can average about 15-16 points and 10-11 rebounds a game. He always played well for us when he actually got in the game and it was clear as day that he was our most talented big man, yet Doug Collins refused to play the guy over 2nd round rookie Lavoy Allen, no knees Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes. Now he's doing the same damn thing to Arnett Moultrie. I really wonder how Collins would have handled Demarcus Cousins if we ended up drafting him over Turner. Dude would probably still have had Hawes and Brand starting last year with Cousins coming off the bench for 15 minutes a game.

Sidenote: One thing I noticed from that Christmas NBA commercial....Melo looks in GREAT shape. Best shape I've ever seen the guy in. No wonder why he's been playing so well this year. Can't remember ever seeing him actually toned like that.

For those that wish to compare Rose to AP of the NFL.

Q: I'm a physical therapist with a board certification as a sports medicine specialist. The big difference with Derrick Rose's ACL recovery versus Adrian Peterson's ACL recovery boils down to one thing: jumping. When you run, you have approximately 4-5 times your body weight worth of ground reaction forces when your leg hits the ground. When you jump it can reach 10-12 times your body weight. Add to that the fact that Adrian Peterson runs on softer turf and grass while Rose is playing on a hard wood court. Football is an obviously grueling sport, but the jumping (and landing) required in basketball is uniquely different and requires the knee and the surrounding musculature to be in a more completely healed and strengthened condition. Returning too quickly can increase the risk of overuse injuries.
