in spurts...in switch offs sure...on a consistant basis all game like you eluded lebron should do NO!!!!!!!!!!!!. As grea of a defender mj was...lets not act like he 48 minutes guarded the best offensive player. And we all know kobe played pick and choose defense. Was he great at times...sure, but lets not go overboard and act like either was locking down covering the best player night in and night out all game.

They didnt in prime turn down a challenge...nor shy away from it either...but neither is lebron. But no elite superstar especially a offensive player devotes all game playing tough/lockdown defense on the opposing best player...and why would they. It would one take away from their offense. and secondly it would tire them out and potentially put them in foul trouble.

What alot or people don't know, Joel is the best option on defense to cover Indians bigs especially David West. I hope Miller gets more minutes because right now Allen and Battier don't deserve any.
