If Russ really wanted to be the man he wouldn't have taken less money to be the #2 guy. He did that so he can win.
Not sure how you came to this. He got an 80 mil dollar contract extension. His value wasn't as high back then and people considered that to be too much at that time. He got paid and doesn't have to take the fall like KD if they lose. Not questioning whether he's a team player or not but let's not act like he took a huge cut to be a loyal Thunder
he probably got the award because he had so many wins AND he had to coach javale mcgeehow does george karl get coach of the year with the job thibs has done this season. yeah nuggets won a ton of games in the west but still, they had their full squad, bulls didn't.
But when they lose its Russell's fault and when they win its because if KD
if you make any of the all nba teams twice, as westbrook has.. you qualify for a higher max figure contract..Not sure how you came to this. He got an 80 mil dollar contract extension. have you seen this seasons shaqtin a fool?PJ channeling Blatche's inner talent negates the Vale part of your statement.
Better than Ty Lawson?
Just playing the devil's advocate here, remember its a regular season award. The only way to measure the impact of a coach is by win-loss. The nuggets finished 3rd in a stacked west, and no they weren't full strength. The dubs finished 6th. the bulls finished 5th in a weak eastern conference just a game up on the Hawks. Only other coaches possibly in the conversation are Woodson or Vogel.
Complete nonsense. Russ was a max player already at that time and as mentioned, could have gotten 95 mil but instead took 80. And nobody ever says anything negative about KD in the media, quite the opposite Russ is always the lightning rod for criticism. If Russ really wanted to be the man he wouldn't have taken less money to be the #2 guy. He did that so he can win.

Finally.
