Bernard Hopkins Thinks MMA is a Gay Porno, Not a Sport
By Mark Vester
Light heavyweight contender Bernard Hopkins spoke with BoxingScene.com about the sport of Mixed Martial Arts - and Hopkins held nothing back when he expressed his feelings about the UFC craze. Hopkins told BoxingScene's Bill Emes that grown men should not be watching MMA. He says MMA is not a sport, and compared it to a porno movie. According to Hopkins, he would feel "suspect" [possibly gay] if he bought a ticket to watch MMA.
"Everybody is different. I don't want to watch two grown men wrestling with panties on. I'm from the hood, we don't play that. To me, I'm not buying a ticket to watch two grown men with panties on, sweating, [with] nuts in their face. That's not me. To compare that to boxing is ludicrous. It's a porno. It's an entertainment porno," Hopkins told BoxingScene. "I'm not wrestling a guy with panties on and his nuts in my face, and they call that a sport."
Hopkins would also tell BoxingScene that he wouldn't have a problem if MMA had an audience made up of women, but it bothers him that groups of men could get together to watch MMA events.
"I'm not criticizing people for what kind of entertainment they like. I think most of those people have chains and masks in their closets. There is something out there for everybody. I can understand if 90% of women were going to those things but I can't understand a grown man sitting there with a couple of guys watching two grown men with panties on, sweating. That's just my opinion. It's not a good look," Hopkins said.

Kimbo coming back
The clip has been pulled... but watch the episode where he fights Roy and pay attention when everyone is sitting by the pool. If you can find the clip or have it DVR'd (I do, so I've actually gone back and watch it)... but Roy is telling someone how to fight Kimbo, "like he did"... Problem is, that footage is supposed to be from before the fight. If you watch it, you'll see who Kimbo will be fighting next.

forget that +#%%.
slap him in triangle and have him be embarrased and outraged as he loses blood to his brain and passes out due to the fact that he is hugging balls.

hendo/ufc talks breaking down. leaving ufc now a possibility.
Dan Henderson hasn't closed any doors yet with the UFC, but he's ready to move on if necessary.
Henderson, 39, fought the last fight of his latest contract at UFC 100, knocking out fellow "The Ultimate Fighter" coach Michael Bisping in the second round.
A Friday report from Yahoo! Sports said that UFC president Dana White has been unable to come to terms on a new contract with Henderson, all but confirming an exit for the former two-division Pride champion.
Henderson on Friday laughed at news he's been shown the door by the UFC.
"I'm still hoping to come to terms with the UFC, until I heard this," he said. "And I will be exploring other options for sure, but I definitely need to make sure I get paid."
Henderson acknowledged a stalemate with the promotion since he became a free agent in early August. In late September, he met with White and UFC co-owner and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in Las Vegas, but remained at a distance on the numbers needed to secure his future services.
Henderson, however, said he hasn't made a final decision to leave the UFC and is still open to negotiations. His agent had talked with the promotion as recently as this week.
The former Olympic wrestler made his Octagon debut at UFC 17 and fought overseas for much of his career before returning at UFC 75 after the promotion's parent company, Zuffa LLC, purchased Pride in February 2007. He went 3-2 in his recent stint.
Henderson denied claims that he has been shopping his services to rival promotion Strikeforce, though he had an informal coffee meeting with Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker last weekend.
"I've never even seen an offer from them," he said.
Next week, Henderson plans to hunt in New Mexico and Utah and assess the situation when he returns. He remains firm on his terms for a deal with the UFC.
"UFC's got a business to run and I'm not doing charity work with this," he said. "I don't believe that I'm asking for too much money, and I know for a fact that I'm taking less money than other fighters."
On Nov. 7, Henderson will corner Team Quest teammate Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at Strikeforce's CBS debut. Aaron Crecy, Henderson's business partner, said the show would give them a chance to scout out the promotion, and it was possible that a deal might be reached down the line.
Still, both asserted that nothing was set in stone, and Henderson wasn't worried about the situation.
"I'm sure that I'll find a job somewhere," he said.
he's one of the top 5 fighters in the history of the sport and it doesnt sound like he's being unreasonable.
ufc needs to realize that as the sport grows, so will fighters' salaries.
Mirko trying to commit suicide?:
"I was very, very disturbed after the loss to [Junior] dos Santos. I was in such a state that I wished to hang myself in my hotel room so I would be gone. Three losses in my last seven fights is nothing but a disaster to me. That's a terrible score, and I'm not happy about it. I am seriously thinking about hiring a psychiatrist to help me out. I have already made some calls about it." -- Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic to Croatian news site Nokaut, as translated by FightersOnly.com
i think that was a line used figuratively that the media took and ran with.
Hardy should have ignored Hopkins, he talks out his %%# routinely. Anyway Hardy is wrong, boxing is still bigger than MMA. And it will be that wayfor many more years in the future.Originally Posted by His diabolical Majesty
DAN HARDY has hit back at Bernard Hopkins' claim that mixed martial arts is nothing more than 'entertainment pornography'.
Boxing legend Hopkins, 44, said he would never pay to see an MMA bout and rubbished claims it could replace boxing as the world's No1 combat sport.
He said: "I'm not buying a ticket to watch two grown men with panties on, sweating, with nuts in their face. It's a porno - it's an entertainment porno."
However, B-Hop's comments have left UFC superstar Dan Hardy fuming.
The 27-year-old has carved an impressive reputation in the UFC and is now regarded as Britain's No1 MMA fighter.
But he is outraged by the Executioner's derisory comments and insists the veteran is scared the lack of top talent in boxing will see more people switch from the sweet science to MMA.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, Hardy roared: "Hopkins is allowed his opinion but I don't think this is what he really thinks.
"He knows that MMA is a tough sport and that the people involved are professional athletes.
"I remember him talking very well of Randy Couture a couple of years ago after watching Randy train.
"I get the feeling Hopkins lashed out at the UFC and MMA like he did because he knows nobody under the age of 35 cares about boxing any more.
"It must be hard to accept for people of his age, he has dedicated his life to a sport and now it is being eclipsed by something more exciting - the UFC.
"A large percentage of UFC fans are the people that used to buy boxing pay-per-views, but they now opt for the UFC instead.
"It's a difficult pill to swallow, I'm sure, but that's the reality of the situation and taking little digs at the UFC and MMA fans won't change this.

MASKED MAN ... Bernard Hopkins before a 2001 fight
"It seems Hopkins has a tendency to speak before thinking, what with his racist comment before his fight with Joe Calzaghe fight, and now his homophobic remark."
Hardy also rubbished the American's allegation that most MMA fans have chains and masks in their closets and offered to settle the score with him face-to-face.
The Outlaw blasted: "Insinuating that UFC fans must have chains and masks in their closets is just ridiculous.
"If I remember correctly, Hopkins enters the ring wearing a gimp mask, right?
"I think most MMA fans will give his criticism the contempt it deserves, but Hopkins is welcome to come and have a go if he doesn't take UFC fighters seriously.
"I'll take that fight and would promise not to wear panties and to keep my nuts off his face."

True, but that is part of the charm of boxing. It being a science, two guys highly skilled trying to impose there will on the other fighter. Thereis so much to learn in MMA that you get fights with guys who are good at everything but not great at anything and alot of the time the fight is justunentertaining. It being more real does not necessarily make it better or more entertaining.Originally Posted by Battousai701

but mma is growing fast while the sports of boxing is slowly dying out. theres no more mike tyson, evaner holyfield, roy jones jr., and oscar de la hoya. theres no true all american champion anymore that the americans can root and cheer for. sure mayweather is back and everything, but the fact is hes not that marketable.
boxing critics come with their usual defensive comments and attack mma in a negative way.
mma is the closest sport u can have to actual real combat, its as simple as that.
sure mayweather is back and everything, but the fact is hes not that marketable.
i dont know why people say this or who can actually believe it. it's not coincidence that his ppv numbers are so high. he's a controversial figurewhich only adds to the fact that he is the biggest draw in boxing.

the whole use of the word 'science' to describe boxing was conjured up to make people feel more intelligent about watching guys club each other aboutthe face and torso.
it's a combat sport plain and simple and it's no more technical than mma.
you also cant really be claiming that most boxing matches are entertaining.
and i guarantee that most mixed martial artists are great at something. some of the best pure grapplers and strikers in the world participate in mma. thedemein maia's, bj penn's, ricardo arona's, dan henderson's, the georges st pierre's, the nogueira's. the jerome lebanner's,anderson silva's, mirko filipovic's, semmy schilt's.
fact of the matter is that most boxing enthusiasts comments about mma are made in a severely defensive manner, and more importantly, they are made out ofnowhere, when nobody asked.
it's a sign of insecurity and fear.
