**Official Meek Mill Thread****Dreamchasers IV Out Now**

There's a huge in between being a dope emcee and being a wack one

Ja Rule or Meek shouldn't be mentioned with Master P.

Ja's debut WAS and STILL is a good album.
I remember being in South Jamaica in 99 and ****** tryin to fight over my CD, Rikers Island style.
Just assumed cause I was a young, skinny ***** that they were TAKING my ****.

But maybe in retrospect they assumed I was soft for owning a Ja Rule album?

****** have revisionist history. Ja was a MAJOR artist in every sense of the word, stop it. He sold records, had hits, and many in the hood ****** with his music.

Everybody go running and take sides with the artist that wins said beef then a few years later that artist is trash. 50, tip, nas. Drake better enjoy this while it last.

Ja first album was the **** dudes either sleeping or acting like they didn't like him.

Maybe where y'all at _'s rock with Ja like that. When I was in high school dudes never talked about him with Jay and X. Dudes around here looked at him just like Nelly. Somebody that makes radio hits and that's it.

But dudes use to rock with Nelly too. So much revisionist history.....

My point is dudes never took them THAT serious as rappers. It ain't revisionist history. I remember dudes laughing at somebody in my neighborhood cuz they bought that Sweat Suit album. Of course they had fans but did they have a strong fan base that thought they were making classics? No. At least not where I'm at.

The first 2 Nelly albums are pretty good.

I was pretty much hating back then cause I was REALLY big on underground hip-hop but in retrospect those albums were pretty dope.

i think Drake's gonna surpass alot of people in his career though. he's literally the only guy who's actually putting in work in hip hop right now.

Most people that are talking about Ja and Nelly being legit good artist prob listen to Future and Meek currently.
Different strokes I guess, they just happen to be fans of terrible music, in which I understand. The parallel is
music back then was actually better than current trash we have ( mainstream music). I'd easily take Nelly or Ja
over Fetty and Future no question.

Drake has more in common than Ja than Meek does.

As far as the singing aspect yes, but Drake or his ghostwriter will lyrically wrap circles around him and anyone
of the main artist back in the day who name isn't Jay,EM,Nas,Big.

Yall missing my point :lol

Artist hade huge fan bases diminished after a lose in hip hop beef.

I dont care if you liked them or not fax are fax.

If you lose a rap beef people are gonna take shots.

Meek is getting hits deservably.

Dont tell me people are lame or sheep because he lost.

This is what comes historically.

Even back then I was buying pretty much every release from Rawkus Records I still copped Ja first album.

I'm also willing to bet 80% of Ja/Nelly fans don't listen to rap like that anymore. They're 30+.

This is a new breed of fans, the same way Sir Mix Alot, MC Hammer fans wernt the same people buying Skew-Lo or Coolio. And so forth.

As a fan since 88, I can say there always has been rappers that weren't necessarily great talents, it's not just this era, the last era or the one before that. ****** just have revisionist history, when in reality their not in a position to intelligently speak about the culture like that, cause their simply looking back on a era they don't vividly remember.

Drake couldn't rap his way out of wet paper bag. Dipset would out rap him, every member. G-Unit, yea even Yayo. Every member if the ROC. Son is the epitome of subpar average mediocre.

Ja rapped with Hov and held his own. He'd rap circles around Drake.

Drake is probaby only better than that Watch Me Whip kid.

To an extent YES. From Busy Bee and Kool Moe Dee to KRS One and Melle Mel, traditionally the loser of high profile battles tends to see a dent in his fan base.

In this case I think its different, not sure how much of a fan base Drake and Meek share, they most certainly don't make the same type of music per se.

And just the fickle nature of modern day hip hop fans. "Ether" took a few months to come out, in today's internet culture NaS would have been finished. And then when you factor in the corporate side of things NaS hands would be tied similar to what we witnessed with Meek.

Biggie NEVER responded to "Hit'Em Up" you know what would've happened on IG? Or people not liking Meek because of Twitter rants, imagine Pac with Twitter. Some of his audio rants are borderline :{

True..but Drake's had the crown for a minute...it's bound to turn sooner rather than later

TRUTH. Cats really in here treatin' Nelly and Ja like Jason Derulo. When them dudes were hot the hood and the mainstream were rockin' with them. They lost the hood and the mainstream soon followed.

Ya'll really overrate Drake's rapping ability. :lol

Drake has no crown

You can't give him a crown, if you denounce what Nelly or Ja did. Because that's what Drake is doing, selling records.
