Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
06:31 PM - June 11, 2012 by Steve_OS
While most of the Madden NFL 13 news out of E3 seems to be positive, we now have something that could turn into a very big issue. Especially if you enjoy roster editing or use edited rosters created by others.
There seemed to be some confusion about edited rosters. More specifically, if edited rosters could be used in Connected Careers Mode.
I sent a few messages to Justin Dewiel, Community Manager at EA Sports earlier this afternoon and received the following responses.

You can edit rosters outside of CC. But you can’t bring them into CC.
If you start a new CCM career after one of Donny Moore’s releases you can start with that new roster.

Basically, we have to rely on Donny Moore's roster updates, throughout the season, instead of grabbing updated rosters from the many talented roster editors out there, or simply editing on our own.
Jean Adams, Art Director for Madden NFL 13, mentioned the following, in his presentation blog, which was posted in late April.

Quote:

Mixing and matching the new NIKE uniforms, cleats, face masks, sleeves and other yet to be released gear will keep me and many gamers out there in edit player for hours.

Hmmm. I somehow doubt many gamers will be playing around much in edit player, if we can't use the edits in anything other than a Play Now session.
Josh Looman, Madden NFL 13 Senior Designer mentioned on Twitter the following glimmer of hope.

Quote:

We just ran out of time. It will be in there at some point in the future.

Does he mean Madden NFL 14 or could the Madden NFL 13 team add the editing ability in a Title Update or fix the issue before its August 28th release date? I think I speak for everyone, when I say the sooner, the better.

To summarize you can't take rosters with equipment or player rating edits into Connected Career modes, and you can't make roster edits of any kind once you start a Connected Careers. The only way you can use edited rosters in the mode is if you use the roster updates EA periodically puts out.
Major fail by EA.
I usually make a ton of equipment edits and to a lesser extent player rating edits to the roster, but now I can only use that roster in Play Now/ Exhibition Mode.
Still excited for Madden 13, but this definitely dampened it a bit. Hopefully they find a way to patch this.

Madden NFL 13 Legends Announced, See the List of Players and Coaches

Check out some of the new Madden NFL 13 screenshots, right here.
During the Madden NFL 13 webcast, EA Sports listed the player and coaching legends. Many of them will be available to use right away, others will be available via pre-order and Madden Ultimate Team (Joe Montana was confirmed as one of them from MUT).
The Canton team, which includes 27 all-time greats will be available in Play Now. You can also play as 1 of 33 legends in Connected Careers, as you try to compare your career against Hall of Famers.
Also mentioned, the Super Bowl will feature a new pre-game coin toss and Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation with legends bringing the trophy out to the players. Legend quarterbacks will have their own throwing motion and legend coaches will have their own playbooks.
If your player retires and meets the qualifications to become a Hall of Famer, you don't have to wait 5 years, it happens right after retirement (not realistic, they wanted to make it "Fun"). Speaking of retirement, players can come back into the NFL after they have retired. Will we see Brett Favre make a return?

Link
Madden NFL 13 Player Rating Reveal Plans
EA Sports today has announced that player ratings for Madden NFL 13 will start being announced next week. The procedure of revealing ratings is much different than previous years. Weeks will focus on positions rather than divisions and teams.
The week of July 30 will be quarterbacks, August 6 running backs, and August 13 wide receivers. The top 10 rated overall at those positions will be announced on Monday and come Friday the ratings for entirety of the position will be put on display. Over the course of their respective weeks there will also be the opportunity to vote on who deserves the best rating in a particular category out of those already deemed to be the top three in those categories.
Only plans for QB, RB, and WR have been mentioned. It remains unclear whether this method of rolling out ratings will be limited to just those positions but given there are only four weeks for this to happen only doing a few positions and overlooking the others would be a disappointment. All player ratings, for every position and team, will be available to view on August 24. That is the same day that Madden NFL 13 will be available to download early with the Season Ticket.
I get it every year no matter how much its pissed me off.

EA SportsAaron Rodgers' brilliance always makes the Packers a popular team to play with in 'Madden.'
The virtual awesomeness that is Aaron Rodgers helped make the Green Bay Packers the most played team online in “Madden NFL 12,” and judging by his ratings in “Madden 13,” we could be in for another year of “frozen tundra” domination.
What can I say, that 99 overall rating makes the man no joke (in real life and in “Madden”).
But he’s not the only player in the game with that much juice, and every week leading up to the game’s launch, EA Sports is releasing the player ratings by position, starting with the quarterbacks, then working their way through running backs, receivers and defenders.
But as I sort through the top 10 quarterbacks, one name jumps out as missing, and that’s “Madden” cover star runner-up, Cam Newton. Cam is one of the top quarterbacks in the game when it comes to his acceleration and arm strength numbers (which translates into being one of the most fun QBs to play with), but his awareness rating is lower than anyone in the Top 15, while his throwing accuracy number is nowhere near elite. That being said, his running and bomb ability make him a winner in my eyes, even if he’s on the outside looking in on EA’s Top 10.
10. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles: 89 overall
Long after Michael Vick has retired, the legend of his video game doppelganger will be remembered alongside other cyber superstars like Bo Jackson and Tom Chambers. Vick once again has the speed that would make most halfbacks in the game jealous, while also possessing one of the biggest arms in all of “Madden.”
http://9. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys: 90 overall
Romo remains a “Madden” favorite because he possesses the ability to pass the ball deep, throw with accuracy, and have just enough speed to be able to not only scramble away from the blitz, but take off down the field and get you that all-important first down with his legs.
8. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions: 91 overall
The Lions are going to be a popular team in “Madden 13,” thanks to the strong arm of Matthew Stafford and the beast-like ability of Megatron going deep. Stafford can throw the ball farther than any QB in “Madden,” and when you combine that with the spectacular catch ability of the “Madden 13” cover star, these two are going to put up some serious points.
7. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers: 92 overall
Rivers is one of those quarterbacks who is better in real life than in “Madden,” as his numbers make him accurate, but his inability to scramble makes him vulnerable to the pressure most gamers bring online. Better get the ball out of his hands quick if you hope to compete.
6. Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos: 93 overall
This might have been the toughest ratings call for the folks at EA to make. Is Peyton the Peyton of old, or is he just old Peyton? We won’t know until we see him play in a real game this season, and we won’t know if his neck can hold up to the hits, but we do know the guy can still take charge of a team. His awareness numbers are through the roof, even if the rest of his ratings have taken a slight hit from years past.
5. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers: 95 overall
Big Ben can scramble just enough to get you out of trouble, has the strength to take a hit or two and still bounce off to make the throw, and the throwing power to heave the ball deep downfield to his speedy receivers.
4. Eli Manning, New York Giants: 97 overall
Not only does Eli Manning have more Super Bowl wins than his big brother, but now he’s also rated higher in “Madden.” Sounds like he’s got bragging rights to me.
3. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints: 98 overall
When playing as Drew Brees, it’s all about making the perfect pass and hitting your receivers in stride so they can rack up those yards after the catch. Brees’ accuracy numbers in the game are just sick, as is his polygonally jacked tight end running free down the middle of the field.
2. Tom Brady, New England Patriots: 98 overall
Brady’s throwing power and accuracy are elite, his awareness is off the charts, and his targets are second to none, especially when you combine the already dangerous Gronk and Welker with the deep threat and spectacular catch ability of free-agent acquisition Brandon Lloyd. Can any defense even match up?
1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers: 99 overall
Aaron Rodgers is the perfect video game quarterback. He can run, he can throw dimes 50 yards downfield, he can squeeze the ball between defenders in the clutch, and he can throw on the run better than just about anyone in the game. All hail the polygonal Packers, once again, the most feared team in “Madden.”
Gotta get in on that that 360 NT league
Alex Smith not a top ten QB? I'm passing.
Romo and Stafford above Vick is a travesty
