Disappointing showing so far. Defense looks like it needs a lot of work. I know its a lot of guys who haven't played together much, but still. Hoping for better in the second half.
 
Team is not looking as good as I expected. We actually looked better last year. I feel we have no identity. On paper we look great but everyone is not together like last year.

Agree. I thought the role definition and cohesiveness would be better, but its not so far. I'm kind of disgusted. The team doesn't look like they know what they're doing right now.
 
Hot #@!*& mess.

Weaknesses on full display, with abysmal rebounding and pathetic defense at the top of the list. No fluke either, the roster is built to out shoot you, nothing else. Last year's team was versatile, longer and more aggressive. Only glaring flaws were lack of offense from the bench bigs and VDN.

We'll win our fair share of games in the reg season, but what's the point if you aren't built to win in the post season?

And I'm done with BG, complete nonfactor, PnR defense as bad as ever. Played like a #@!%*. WTF was he doin all summer?
 
Defense actually wasn't that bad. The thing that kileld us is the Lakers had like 1000 offensive rebounds which lead to like 10000 3's.

I don't even want to think about what the Warriors are gonna do to us if we can't rebound against them. Steph might drop 82 on us.

I'm not giving up, I'm expressing concerns about issues that are not going to just go away. (Forgive me for my posts, which i know are pessimistic, but I'm not gonna sugar coat anything).

If we just missed open shots, had foul trouble, or something flukey or fixable happen, no biggie. But we have personnel that's not going to start boarding all of a sudden. Dudley and Redick are poor rebounders for their position and will get beat to balls all season long, not due to poor effort, but physical limitations. All those extra possessions we got last year were major factors in our success.

To end on a postive note, our out of timeout plays were money, and JJ's ability to be a secondary playmaker is a dimension we didn't have last year, opens up the half court offense for us. And DJ carried his preseason momentum into the season.

On to the Warriors.

I think we're better off starting the season playing .500 ball so that a fire can be lit under *****. We lost this game for many reasons but that's not an excuse. Give this team 10-15 games to gel then judge.

We'll be good. I am a little nervous about our defensive play on the wings but I think we can figure this out. We just got punched in the mouth by the bench and never recovered....game 1 fellas.

Also, I'd be interested in buying for those who can't make it to the games. Posted a couple of times in the Off-Season thread :hat let's get it!
 
Maybe this will be a good wake up call. Those guys on the Lakers team had a lot more to play for, since everyone had pretty much written them off already. And it showed. The game really game down to desire and energy. The killed us in those categories. But the perimeter defense and Blake's seeming lack of development are definite concerns for me. Blake needs to play at a very high, at least close to superstar level for us to be real contenders. He was a far cry from that yesterday.
 
I'm still pissed, by the way. The game last night was the capper on what was a kind of crappy day all around for me. Crazy with work all day and got confirmation that I tore my Achillies tendon. Here's hoping Halloween will be better.

I think you made all the points I was going to make. Lakers bench were balling out of control, but I see them NEVER playing like that again. I knew we wouldn't gel right away but what I was watching was like watching the Clippers of old. Again, like it was already said, i'm seeing .500 ball for a bit. So many things I just wanna discuss but I'm still upset and would rather just put that lost in the books and keep it there.

Seasons long, never giving up on these guys but if we continue to play like that...

we need to get that win tomorrow. we can't lose two in a row to division teams.

Thanks, man. I'll be all right. I think it's just a sign that my old, out-of-shape ***** has to find another sport to play besides hoops. Partial ACL tear and blown Achillies in the space of 3 years - somebody is trying to tell me something. Time to pick up golf, I guess.

I want to pick up golf but I'm so damn terrible at it. I went to the driving range a couple years ago and the struggle that occurred was too much.

Anyway, I've gotten semi decent at making .gifs so if anyone has any Clipper-realated avy requests. Post them in here and I'll hook you up.

after the excitement settled down i actually feel for you guys. we have been on the other end of those games where every random scrub somehow hits every shot one too many times. just count it as bad luck and dont get too annoyed when steph curry outscores our entire bench tonight
