The question remains is anyone who isn't black listening to Blacker The Berry and saying yea this material was made with me in mind..

When he says "You hate my people, your plan is to terminate my culture" i dont want to sit here and say a person of another race telling me how relatable it is to them because you being a non black man in America never truly felt the feeling of corporations completely trying to destro your character and any of your culture.

Not that they are in anyway alike, but I can't exactly relate to a majority of Jay-Z records when he's talking about how much money he has, yet I can still appreciate the music and still turn up at a Jay-Z show. Hell, Murder To Excellence is a song all about black on black murder and blacks making something of themselves when it gets to excellence. That song is fantastic. Do I have to be black to enjoy it?

Obviously I can't relate to Blacker the Berry, but that song GOES, I may not rap along with it at a show, but id still definitely get into it. And again, the whole concept of that song is about an entire race of people being hypocritical, not just Kendrick himself.

No dude, part of the album is preaching anti violence and no more killings of each other. So get out of here with the tough act and try to say who is allowed to like the album, when again you obviously missed half the messages of it.

I don't think NTers can relate to running through the 6 with their woes, but a lot of them were still turning up to it.

As soon as race is involved in music, the ability to relate completely changes who should listen though?

Lastly, how the hell you gonna bring up ICP? Like any self respecting / non trailer trash white person likes them? If you are gonna bring up white rappers, please bring up ones who actually make hip hop and not garbage.

Nay clearly stated in his other post that it would be stupid to say white people can't enjoy the music. NOBODY is claiming such a dumb and dated idea, what we are saying is that Kendrick made this music specifically with the intent of relating to black people and the struggles that we have to overcome. Can white people enjoy it Yes, Can they understand the music yes..... was this made with the intentions of relating with white people absolutely not.

That's not ostracizing whites from rap music it Stating a simple fact that black/latinos in America have a story nobody else is dealing with and this album speaks volumes and focuses primarily on establishing a connection with those people. What is difficult about this concept.

Theirs plenty of rap that i listened too that doesn't directly speak to me that i like, however when a artist paints a portrait of something that you really see everyday, about specific situations that you have actually been through it resonates much better.

Drake running around with his woes is something that can be experienced by anyone... who doesnt have friends that they hang with, people from all walks of life can experience that feeling. A cop or Judge looking at you in disgust because your Black or media constantly portraying you as something your not because of the color of your skin just isn't something thats relatable to anyone who isnt black.

The days of simply Listenin to rap and turning it off when your tired are over. The same way there's lifestyle music that caters to the Trap or club life, this is lifestyle music for the modern day Pan-African. And not everybody that enjoys the beats and rhymes is gonna be willing to challenge these institutions

I agree with what youre essentially stating...empathy is also being able to "place yourself in their shoes" so you can have empathy with the Katriana victims.

Hiphop and music like this, has an will continue to do a lot for racial relations in America. So why be so devicisive tiny?

Yea, there is definitely a metaphor of sex present. But I think it's way deeper than that. It's right before U also. Right before the breakdown.
