**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

Nobody asked for trap music from Kendrick though, he been making music that sounded different and "out the box". Just because the message is positive doesn't mean it's a good song.
I totally agree with you my brother the puppeteers have gotten a hold of KDOT...This is a cheesy corny record I listened to it about 5 times & I most definitely ain't feeling it....

Unfortunately, we've just gotten to the point in society where hating is more enjoyable than liking.

I'm far from a Kendrick stan. I actually didnt like him or his weird voice at all when i first heard him.
It took a LONG TIME for him to grow on me.

One thing i admired about him though is i realized he doesnt constrain himself to a box.
He's constantly pushing himself to be more creative.

Most dudes see creativity as a joke though. On twitter people are more interested in making jokes or memes about the new single rather than listening to the words and appreciating the message.

Cant say im surprised. It would be extremely naive of me to expect different these days.

Its just the world we live in now. I can see why musicians are so frustrated lately.

Rapping like Bobby Shmurda is more appreciated by this generation than most lyrical rap songs.

Hmm.. I like the song. I think a lot of the old school hiphop heads will like it more than the young crowd, obviously. At least that's the vibe I get from twitter. I'm pretty sure the song will grow though. But it didn't matter what he dropped, people were going to either love or hate it. The anticipation was extremely high.

Lol i can see why rappers hate rap fans, yall are so fickle. I can see how yall dont like this song, but damn... production wise, when the beat switch up/slow down that got me... If yall want trap music stay in the Jeezy/ Migos lane, let K Dot out the box...

Leave Jeezy out of this fam, he just dropped a gem :smokin .. that's foul you mentioned him and Migos in the same lane too :{

I liked it

I also respect the cats who didnt it is what it is everybody is not going to be on the same page

and hopefully with it being kendrick and the Interscope machine behind him it will get some radio play

because right now they need something different

radio is sounding like one long *** song with dudes saying the exact same ****

but i remembered when swimming pools came out a dudes wasnt feeling that either

and some people who never heard of dude until then

thought it was a turn up song

This doesn't really sound forced IMO actually not surprised to hear this type of record from K. Dot. With artist like Em and Yela, the uplifting records are completely left from what they are known to do.

i dunno, i'm getting that MMLP2 vibe from this song. sounds forced to me.

Song is horrible. Wow.

Nothing like GKMC. Swimming Pools was >>>>>>> as a first single, in EVERY way, and that also had a message.

i like it... i like the outkast feel to it, the beat switch at the end, the tempo changes, & the isley brothers sample. this track will also be everywhere, i can already tell :lol

this isn't the feel im looking for on the entire upcoming kendrick project, & i know he isn't going in that direction. im sure this is one of those tracks that's gonna fit right in, in its own way once we listen to the project as a whole. i could see this following up a darker track or even being the back end of a track (similar to sing about me & dying of thirst)

people saying this is dope but diss Em for making motivational records :{

Because Em's best records had content with the likes of him killing his mom and raping his ex wife. Nobody was trying to hear that **** from him. Kendrick has been making positive music for quite some time.

Lol @ comparing Pharell to Kendrick. That's a reach and a half. Happy was a song made specifically for a kids movie that just happened to take off because it was a fun and positive song. Not that there's any justification needed, as Pharell has already shown to be a very dynamic artist with varied taste and talents. Kendrick on the other hand, is currently enthralled in a battle for the consciousness of rap fans. He's supposed to be King Kendrick. This song is not what King Kendrick needed to come back with after all this time. It's a decent cut but nothing special. Furthermore, personally, I don't understand K Dot's infatuation with the nasally voices he likes to use. He sounds so much better when he raps straight forward. I'm not too mad at this song but I'm not excited about it either. And after a long hiatus I think most of us were really ready to be excited.

lol da hell yeah I wasn't expecting this either. Its not...bad but I can't imagine playing it again anytime soon lol

It's not bad. I love the sample, lyrically it isn't bad at all. Its a positive song that managed to not be extremely corny which is the problem with some positive tracks.

Not what I was expecting. The chorus sounds really Cee Lo-esque. Not a bad song. A bit more happy than I had expected.

this song is definitely situational. for those who are not feeling it right now, would probably end up vibing with it at a bbq or something

feelin it though

How do you not feel this song, blows everything out of the water right now. He def on some Outkast/ Andre3k type feel though.

Its gonna take a while for people to feel it.

Didnt expect this, but its good.

Love the hook.

I don't get why people think this is a forced Kendrick record. It also sounds to me like something an artist like Kendrick would make.

I agree with others who have also said to wait and listen to how this fits in with the whole project. As we know Kendrick isn't about making singles to attract mainstream radio; he makes music he likes with the message he wants. This is clearly not like what is mainly on the radio these days so I don't get the whole "logic" behind Interscope forcing him to make a positive record.

Sadly into today's hip-hop climate positivity and lyricism are frowned upon.

Kendrick doing his thing man. At least he has the balls to go outside the box. The depth behind his bars, the sample used etc.

I love myself! :smokin
