I thought he was talking bout more of his uncles, fam, and homies around him that were knee deep in the game, so yea him being brought up and around it, it's in his veins. I like to think of it as something like this...he hung with the homies and fam and prolly did some tiny dirt. But once people realize how much potential he had, they wanted him out the way. Kinda like the crazy nice athlete from the hood.
