Shipping is kinda hefty but full size restock on shoe palace
Copped. Thanks brother... Almost $40 extra with taxes & fees tho lol

First time I’ve done a full patent repaint. Learned a few things and probably can do better on the next one but I got these back to the color I wanted. Should have these finished up this weekend.

How did you do this? Couldn't find much googling.
Was it: Sand off original patent layer, high gloss/shine finish paint and sealant?

*been wanting to try but also worried id just ruin a pair lol

You have to wet sand, dry sand, apply adhesion promoter, paint, then I used liquitex high gloss finish.

I think my sanding could have been better cause I skipped the wet sanding. And you have to get a few thin coats of the finisher on before you give it heavy coats (which seems to be necessary for the really shiny finish) without overdoing it.

Dried and wearable. Had em on watching da bears earlier. Gotta say I kind of impressed myself with how these turned out. For being 25 years old I don’t think I could get these any fresher and good for the long term. And man, that foam air unit really is comfier than the zoom air.

That turned out great. Dope work!
Looks just smooth from the pic.
Curious if you can update on how it creases.
Air brush or regular brushes?

Literally heading out to the Angelus store right now and going to start on some past 11 lows as a test.

Everything bends well. These had almost no wear so there weren’t any major creases to fill and sand out before painting. I’m contemplating trying this with a super cheap pair of 01 or 96 Columbias where I need to fill the creases and sand first.

I’ll send you a few videos that go through the process. I used an air brush, I think you kind of have to in order to get a super smooth surface texture. I will say the final step I took after using the liquitex was spraying with my normal Krylon UV resistant high gloss clear coat. I used it on my DMPs where I’d had a little acetone splash removing the upper and you can’t tell now. If anything they have a better shine to them than when I got them. I did order a package of hypodermic needles to be more precise with the acetone than my squeeze bottle was.

I’ll be finishing up the DMPs restoration next week. I’m waiting on new jumpmans to come in to finish up. The originals get brittle and crack, so I just pulled them. But I’ll be finishing up that restoration next week. Soles are clear again and reglued. JMB10215 JMB10215 if you have pairs you’re looking to restore or scouting pickups to restore, shoot me a DM. I’m helping a few dudes with 12’s. Same goes for anyone else if you want some cleaning and unyellowing. Glad to help out.
