We need better toe boxes on the next concord/space jam releases. Also I am still a believer that the 2016 pl was too high. These are the OG space Jams vs the 2016’s

That leather cut definitely too high, it threw me off. It damn near took over the whole shoe. Part of why I sold mine.

I thought everyone's gripe about the 11s was that the patent leather was cut too low... Now that they've made it higher, y'all want them low again? Lol

Don’t think they want them low but the Space jam retro was the first time going back to the higher cut. The front half looks fine but that second half going towards the heel and jumpman just looks too high compared to the OG.

Too high is better than too low in this case. They improved the cut on the Cords and Playoffs though.

I dont need 65% of my shoe patent leather. And honestly the only pair that was just too high was the first time they switched it in 2016. They have improved it ever since. I dont think anybody wants the too skinny PL from 2008-2012 era

Also more toe box consistency. I feel like the 2021 Cool Greys did a great job with the majority of the toe box slants (as pictured below) but my breds and my 2018 concords did not have this slanted toe box. My brothers 2018 concords did though.

I remember many years ago someone on this board was attending Miami of Ohio University and for a homework assignment for some class they had they asked over five hundred people if they preferred the patent high cut or low cut on XIs and high cut won by a long shot. Maybe someone can dig it up.

The 2019 Playoffs was a great retro, but the outsoles were too dark. The OG had this bright “candy apple” shade that realllly popped. It was a beautiful thing that just went perfectly with the black patent and white edges. I hope we see them brought back like that again one day.

Yeah I think it’s mostly aging. The red may have been a tad lighter though. Maybe. It definitely pops

I have thought this for years. Red outsole oxidation results in a brighter more vibrant red. I have a DS pair of the 96, you wont convince me the outsole stayed true to form while all the other originals oxidized to a noticeably different color.

No, OG bred 11’s came with a very bright red out the box - As they aged/oxidized, the red would turn sort of orangish, almost like a burnt orange color . It was like a candy apple red or scarlet when they were brand new though. The 2019 retro was much darker, almost crimson like.

I don’t think I’d ever buy another pair now

i still like the concords, playoffs and cool greys tho

the comfort and fit of the shoe is just non existent now
