OFFICIAL HOCKEY THREAD: NHL, KHL, NCAA, IIHL

WOWWWW Miller to Kreider. That was sick. Nasty.

Really happy zook got his money and stayed. Rangers been playing some really tough games with teams looking for playoffs or better seedimg Probably a good thing.

Alex is a beast but I've never thought of him as the GOAT goal scorer. That's a huge mountain to climb
Ovi needs 3 more 50+ goal seasons to tie Bossy and Gretzky for 9 seasons with 50+ goals. If he can do that, or even surpass it, would that change? I think it's even more impressive considering the higher level of skill in all positions. I know these are big ifs

in all of sports no position has improved more than goaltenders since the 80's. Goal tenders were way way WAY worse.

if adjust for the scoring environment Oci is really really close.

and Ovi's 65 goal 2007-08 ranks as the second best goal scoring season of all time relative to scoring envoriment. Brett Hull in 91 is first, gretsky's 86 goal sseason is 6th.

im not saying he is im just saying its way closer than anyone realizes.

also it's disheartening to me that the NHL refuses to anything about goaltenders and the scoring.

we're are only going to have 1 50 goal scorer, zero 100 point guys, it's terrible. :{

as kid I had these hockey high late VHS tapes from 80's and the creativity, the passing, guys use to carry the puck, probe the defense, now they just fire the puck at the net to cach in on rebounds.

post lock out it got better and that was great. but now it's just as bad as the trap era.

playoff hockey is still the best thing in sports, but the league has ruined regular season.

I would increase the net size.

As long as that change doesn't trickle down to my men's league you can increase the net all you want :lol

At one point do we just accept the fact that Alex Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer to ever live?

Absolutely. Just 423 more goals until we get to that point.

He is a transcendent talent, to be sure. But I personally feel for every argument supporting tougher competition, there is a counter-argument.

Said it two years ago...

Scoring is trending the wrong way fasttt. At this rate in 2 more years therell only be a handful of guys that even score 80 pts

It's crazy that the leading scorer this year will probably only have 82-83 points.

Whats worse is they had the GM meetings and apparently it wasn't even discussed.

I'll never understand this league.

That really was dirty as hell by Byfuglien,I don't blame Vigneault for going off. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get his first career suspension for that. He really could have done some damage to his neck like that.

That Drew Miller skate to the face

That's the kind of stuff that makes me want to go back to wearing a full cage.

Glad that Miller isn't hurt too seriously, those are always scary moments. I remember thinking that I was about to witness an on ice death after Richard Zednik had his throat slashed by a skate a few years ago, dude was leaking blood all over the ice :x :x

Does anyone remember me calling for OLY sized rinks like 5 years ago. I hafta believe thered be more scoring and less injuries. Or i want to believe it anyways. Just makes too much sense I guess

He should have died. A doctor at the rink reached into his open throat and pinched the choratat (sp*) or dude woulda bled to death right in front of everyone

^"carotid"? carotid artery. Same one that was cut with Clint Malarchuk :x

That said, don't eem wanna watch the vid :x

Hockey players are a different breed, bruh. I was reading that after Miller got stitched up, he wanted to get back on the ice.

I wonder if there will eventually be a movement to ban skates? Half-joking :lol

drew miller :eek

love seeing fans of other sports get tight anytime we praise hockey players for playing through ridiculous injuries...people are so quick to get defensive over their baseball and basketball heroes :lol

bruins in line for a first round date with the habs :hat
