Purists can suck it. Hockey media is going to love covering that series splitting their time between Vegas and South Florida (barring a miracle comeback from Dallas or Carolina)

I think purists may not be the right term. People worried about ratings/casual fans/Canadians might hate it, but in terms of hockey, I think Florida and Vegas play exciting styles. This isnt the neutral zone trap Devils of the 90's.

Got around to watching the Benn cross-check, he had Stone on the ice after the hit and AFTER decided to push his stick across Stone's head/neck. Bruh wtf!

The Department of Player Safety probably heard his press conference this afternoon and said “he still doesn’t get it.” I’ll try to find a link.

He’s been fined for cross checks 4 times in just over 1000 games.

Part of Benn’s press conference is towards the beginning of the video at the top of the site below. Stone’s stick naturally flung upward towards Benn’s face as a result of the hit (and I’m sure Benn probably thought that was intentional in the moment), but to say you were using your stick as a bracing point while you fully extend your arms towards the face of a guy on his back on the ice…idiotic. Especially when you have a history of being fined for cross checking. There are people in Dallas (and mostly across the NHL) calling for the C to be removed from his jersey, which I think is probably too much after what he’s done for the past decade plus, but there’s no defending this move in a crucial game 3.
