***Official Breakfast Club Interview Thread***

If you were an old *** ***** during Soulja's run then this conversation probably isn't for you in the first place.

Some **** really can't be validated with numbers and charts and you just gotta be young and out here to see its impact.

Soulja Boy will be in parties for the next 20-30 years. He has hits.

I live in Belgium where we don't even have a hiphop radio station and Soulja was everywhere on the radio and music tv channels during his prime.

Crank Dat, Gucci Bandana, Pretty Boy Swag, Kiss Me Thru The Phone, Turn My Swag On

Those are the ones I vividly remember hearing constantly, much to my dislike. Crank Dat and Kiss Me Thru The Phone being the biggest singles out of that list

Ringtone era rap >> the youngins out nowI would rather listen to do the Ricky bobby 100 times than listen to lil uzi

Ring tone rap came at the perfect time in my life. If I was 23 or something I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it. I got to experience lean wit it rock wit it at house parties , she got a donk at a party, Laffy taffy, swag surfing when the whole party would be surfing. Great times.

nah man ringtone rap ran the clubs too so it was good for us back then ( I was 22 in 2007).

We wasn't cranking that soulja boy, but Donk WRECKED the club :{ :hat. Swear to god seeing a entire club lean wit it rock wit it was God level :lol. Jeezy and Fabo geeked up, plies.

Straight up clubbing was live as **** back then, cause we didn't give a **** wha they played in the club as long as girls were having a good time.

And let's not forget the king T Pain

Buy you a drink is a classic I miss those days man

Was a beautiful time. Thats back when ****** wasn't too cool to dance. I used to hit the teen clubs every Saturday when my cousin got a brand new jeep liberty in 11th grade :lol.

Soulja boy was ahead of his time, you can't even call him trash if you rock with lil yachty 21 savage and the rest of them dudes. He fit right in there.

I would like to take time to appreciate my favorite era in my 27 years... the Crunk era. As far as I'm concerned Lil Jon is an American hero. He was the og khaled except he was making beats and actually contributing when he opened his mouth.

2007 had fire club tracks

Wipe me Down

Make it rain remix

Hood *****

Good life

Throw some Ds

But if we talking Crunk, boy y'all don't even know man

Baby D, Bo Hagan, Crime Mob

looking back 06-07 might have been my favorite time party music wise but crunk era is definitelty appreciated..trillville vs lil scrappy was the first cd i ever bought with my own money...I walked 3 miles to get it at a Sam Goody

You're comparing someone who had three number one hits, to someone who had one?
A hit transcends genres, races, radio formats and geographics. The charts normally depict that. Being popular among black people 13-21 doesn't make it a hit.

Because you were 14 at the time listening to Soulja Boy doesn't mean that everyone else was.

Again, if he had so many hits, why did he get dropped and why was the drop off from his first to his second so great? He went from a platinum artist to a wood overnight.
One of those most ignorant things I've ever read.....

I thought crunk would never end. I'm so glad it finally did. It started off cool but that **** lasted too long.

T-Pain ran the scene my college years. He'll forever have a special place in my heart for that.

Crunk is better than trap tho....

DOA was when I started to realize Jay was getting old and out of touch :lol

Yeah that song never got any play from me, pretty much was non existent once the no ceilings version dropped.

Loved every one of those and they can still get clubs/parties live today

So he had followed up his #1 song in the country....with a number #3 song in the country. But because it wasn't #1...he's a "one hit wonder" :lol.

That's like saying Fetty Wap is a "one hit wonder". Stop it man.

Can't believe I'm defending Soulja boy :lol. But you're really selling the man short when he followed up his hit record with other platinum, top 20,30,40 & 50 hit records. As well as viral and club hits.

No idea how one hasn't heard "she got a donk" in the club/party. It's almost like....a big booty twerking woman wil magically appear on you when that comes on.

You're comparing someone who had three number one hits, to someone who had one?

Songs that are like 121 or whatever on the charts can't be considered hits, but all of Soulja Boy's other stuff are definitely hits. I'm not even sure how that's debatable.

Forgot about Gucci Bandana too. he really does have a lot of hits.

:rollin at the thought of if it's not #1, then it's not considered a hit

A hit is simply a song that gets played a hell of a lot everywhere. It doesn't solely have to be number one. Usher's "No Limit" is sitting at #33 right now. You can hear than anywhere. Is that not considered a hit just cause it's not #1? It has nothing to do with race, and Soulja Boy's fall off is totally irrelevant to the fact that he has had multiple hits. You're all over the place :rollin

Bohagon smh. Verse was so hard. Then the jeezy version came out and took over years later. Made ****** forget how cold the og was.

Crunk era was hard. I miss it, Lil Jon had a ridiculous run. Really thought Bohagon was next. SMMFH.

Crunk era >>>> the south from 2013-today

What's crazy is Jon left it all on the table at the height of his run. Homie dropped snap your fingers & just bounced. Could've been even longer.

Play no games is still my joint. Trick verse >>>> :smokin
