Why do dudes make such a big deal over a nickname 

And it always boils do to "I like the nickname I made up more than the nickname other people are using"

They're the Raptors, everyone needs to just deal with it and let it go. It's not that serious

Good question, for me they are the Black/Reds or Playoffs VII

'Charcoal' is actually labeled on the 02 box as the color. But like he said above, I call them blk/red or Playoff 7's.

That's what im saying. In NY the 02' release were knows as the raptor vii's. Where they get shadows from puzzles me.

"Renaming" a nickname happens all the time:

Example: Puff Daddy becomes P. Diddy then Diddy

Air Max III becomes Air Max 90

Air Max IV becomes Air Classic Bw

It makes sense to call the Heineken SB Dunks "Heineken's" because that was the inspiration for them

The Orlando 7 Jordan from the DMP was inspired by the Orlando Magic color scheme - calling them "Orlando 7s" makes sense

"Hare 7s" make sense cause Bugs Bunny was in the Super Bowl commercial as "Hare Jordan" wearing that colorway

These Jordans were not inspired by the Toronto Raptors, so I don't refer to them as "R*****s"

When the OP originally started this topic I was actually pretty impressed that he didn't use the "Raptor" nickname in the title....I take that back. If anything, I want to edit it NOW.

I hate the name. Why? Because to me these will always be the black/red VII's or the Playoff VII's. I never jumped on the 'raptors' name bandwagon nor will I ever. Never mind the fact that the team didn't exist when they originally released in 1992, but they don't even use the colors NOW. I understand it's one of those nicknames that took off and will never ever go away, but that still doesn't mean I have to accept it.
