Those close up pics seem very "Fire Red" to me more than Varsity Red, and that's a really good thing.
They look Varsity Red to me. This is what Fire Red looks like.

Is it really worse? The quality of most of those IVs in '06 wereI remember when the 06s came out and everyone complained about the quality, 6 years later the quality is even worse, I would rather just save my money for another shoe.
I highly doubt it.. any red CW of retros are a easy sell outI wonder if these will sit just like the military blues???

How are they worse? If the leather is anything like the 2012 White/Cements, then they are automatically much better than the paper thin leather used on the '06.

I'd rather have leather that would crease easily than the garbage they used on the white cements I have. PLUS the cracking seems worse on the '12 military blues than the 06s
I'm shocked this thread only has 5 pages considering release date is this Sat. Guess people don't have a lot to say about this shoe.

Ol David Bowie in the video up there ^^ might as well start calling these the "Varsity Reds"... Not the Fire Reds, it's been official for months
I have DS Mars IV's, DS 2006 Military blue IV's, 2012 Military blue IV's, 2012 white/cement IV's and I WAS planning on buying the 2012 fire red IV's this weekend... until I held them in my hands at Footlocker yesterday. I'm telling you guys... the quality is even worse than in 2006.
The pair I held, that was just taken out of the box for the first time, already had a crease across the toe and on the side of the shoe that was supposed to be all smooth, there was a patch where the "leather" was wrinkled. The "leather" also felt really plastic-y.
After holding them in my hands, I changed my mind and will not be buying them this weekend.
To those who do not have Mars IV's, these will have to do, but if you already have Mars IV's that are still in good condition, as I do, do NOT waste your time with these. Even the manager of the Footlocker who showed me the shoes commented on how bad the quality is!
I dont know what pair you got . But my connect at footlocker showed me a size 9 on sat and they are not bad at all no different from the 2012 cement 4 that came out theses in no way felt like plastic may be you had a pair of kd's or lebrons in your hands. Maybe it was just that pair or maybe your trying to kill the hype. I just hope your not type of person that bash a shoe then have them for sale on your sig.I have DS Mars IV's, DS 2006 Military blue IV's, 2012 Military blue IV's, 2012 white/cement IV's and I WAS planning on buying the 2012 fire red IV's this weekend... until I held them in my hands at Footlocker yesterday.
