Facts. It's even crazier that I spent $900 on these. SMH. These are still one of the dopest pre-remastered 1's out there imo.

So Nike did a what-the themed 1 of sorts based royals-chi-BReds known as top3 in late 2016.. It was surprisingly popular as a retro+ colorway. The following year complexCon (2nd year) is pushing for ‘exclusive’ drops - jordan releases a patent leather black and gold 1 with top3 colorblocking as it’s exclusive for the fall event. At the top of 2018 JB releases a follow up to the gold top3 associated with sneakerCon with a slightly different colorblocking - instead of a mismatched medial/external panel and toebox on each shoe the medial matched and toebox was consistent on each shoe - aka goldtoes.

Goldtoes is used as a general term for both eventhough the pairs are distinctly different with different style codes. This summer JB will revisit goldtoes with a women’s release...not sure if it will just be a goldtoes retro in a narrow size band or something closer to the gold top3 release.

So there's been 3 pairs.
And the mids that are out now have nothing to do with the highs right?

As for the break in comment the 2013 1’s were the worst 1’s I’ve ever owned (and sold) and they still weren’t bad at all on feet at any time

Once the pair drops this summer there will be 3 in the series. The mids technically are not connected but the current mid-line in general is heavily influenced by the high line with regards to colorways (ie: pines, SBB orange, top3, crimson tints, et al) so wouldn’t be surprised if the goldtoes success was the reason for a black/gold/white PL mid.

Those 2013s were constructed like boots. Not very plush materials but they definitely had a TON of structure.

Ironically, mids essentially have become the popular, takedown model of the Air Jordan 1 that AJKOs were supposed to be.

Na i remember. Just sucks for him I guess

Yeah $900 is way too much for such a basic shoe. They're cool but on foot from afar they dont really have any noticeable characteristics aside from the cement gray speckled midsole. Unless someone is in the know and they get up close to see all the detail with the materials, translucent outsole, the wording on the back etc the NYC is pretty basic on first look.

wondering if heel drag is avoidable with 1s. I feel like the heel of my outsole is going faster than anything else.

Do you wear them normally like laced up and not loosely tied? If you wear them loosely you should probably stop because that definitely can be a contributor, also pick up your feet. A lot of people drag their feet and dont even realize it.

I mean isn’t the draw for most AJI is that they’re a basic shoe?

But $900 yikes

Yeah true but these are the ones. Like even if they were super limited I personally wouldn't drop 900 on them. 1s look best with multiple colorblocking. If you wore your pants legs over the shoe they'd look just like any other Nike.

But I'm not a big fan if solid colored 1s so it's different for me.
