None of that made sense.

And if I resold I'd do well, but I don't.

What doesn't make sense about it? You call, you type your size in then 'pound' then you get put in line on hold until your spot is up then you type in your nike + acct number. What's the problem?

What number did Cartwright wear? Lol

The trolling possibilities are endless

The more I think about this the better it sounds for everyone involved.

Nike gets this bot monkey off their back, and they get people interested in Nike+ which they seem to be excited about.

and

The true fans get theirs first.

Win/win

Nike doesn't care man. They know their product will sell either way. For PR purposes they will give the illusion they care but doesn't matter if the shoe is going to a reseller or a "true fan" Green is green.

To be completly honest the "true fan" isn't even their target market any more. It's the young kids who have no clue about the history like you alluded too. It's working well for them. Not For the older guys or collector game anymore

What's in it for them is a cheap fix and more subscribers to Nike+ which they do care about. The shoes still sellout regardless but it's just them throwing a bone our way, the customers that got them to where they are.

And to weed out the chumps and resellers further it asks you 'during a game vs the Magic, which number did Jordan wear when (this is where the impatience and ignorance of youth eliminates like 75% of the callers) ...his jersey got stolen before the game?

Gotta teach the kids the legacy somehow. Make em work for it.
I'll take it even further. Which brand of basketball cards in '90-91 had Michael sporting that #12 on the card?

Correct.

It's the same kind of thinking when it comes to promoting prize fights in boxing pay-per-view. Promoters are constantly looking for that star with cross-over appeal who can capture the hearts of casual boxing fans in order to increase PPV sales. Guys like Canelo Alvarez and GGG can easily draw die hard fight fans to watch their fights, but can they convince the casual fans to pay $70 for their fights like Mayweather and Pacquiao can?

Similarly, Nike knows pairs such as Banned 1s, Concord 11s, Space Jams, Chicago 1s, BC 3s, etc will sell out, but how can Nike promote the less desirable pairs so that the "casual" sneakerhead or new sneakerhead will cop new colorways and new retro styles.
