What's real world people? Aren't you still in school? Wait till you actually face the real world..

I mean when people approach me when I'm out and about with my girlfriend. Most of the time I'm not looking to have a conversation about my sneakers. I'm on this website to get my sneaker talk done.

I would prefer people not talking to me. They can think whatever they want as long as they don't bother me.

While I agree with your "wear what you like" mantra, I think the "poor man's Jordan" title for the mids comes from the cheap materials and horrible cws the mids have been released in (compared to OG AJ1s).

Also, I think people on here like getting props/respect from other sneakerheads based on the shoes they wear-which, you're right, 99% of people won't care/understand. I think that's just part of the culture (I think similar situations happen in other hobbies like car collecting and whatnot).

There have been literally tons of quality releases in terms materials and color ways of the mids in the last 15 years if you didn't start collecting 1s when the OG remastered campaign started. Old love/new love, Father's Day pack, Multiple jordan 1 premiers. People hate on the mids because it's cool now but for a very long time mids were the retail face of jordan 1 silhouette because hi releases were few and far between.

Old love/new love, Father's Day pack, Multiple jordan 1 premiers. People hate on the mids because it's cool now but for a very long time mids were the retail face of jordan 1 silhouette because hi releases were few and far between.

Even if there were quality mids released (Levis come into mind here) the majority of them are outlet fillers. They are a derivative product that fails to be a legitimate retro (as there was no AJ1 mid created until the past 15 years, as you mentioned). If mids are your thing, that's cool but they fail to match the shape of the OG AJ1 and often the material quality as well.

If really not that serious IMO, its dope if someone is willing to actually compliment or discuss your kicks with you, instead of side eyed and automatically swear they are fakes just cuz they hating.

I haven't seen someone robbed for their kicks in over 15 years, stick up kids matured with age I guess. Those type of scenarios rarely happen now.

Woah, Woah unlike the Fragments I will defend the Black Toes.  These are the Jordans Jordan wore during the Jumpman photo (Black Tongue) shoot and numerous other occasions.  These are up there with the Chicagos.

That's why I asked if it was more of the history/nostalgia of shoe. If you don't take that into account IMO the CW is not that great.

I remember the 2003 Unc/Chi/Blk-Gold mids selling out, Old Love New 1s selling out, as well as the Blk/White Fathers Day Pack mids, the olympic mids, the blk/white baron mids, and a few others from 07-08. I do however remember the CDP 1s staying on shelves for what seemed like forever(summer 2009 a year later), even when they were sold separate from the 22s and they were a high. This 1s hype and mids hate started once JB started spoiling us with High top 1s starting in 2009, then it hit the hype level it is now in 2013. 

But the current mids do suck tho. The colorways lack any kind of creativity or inspiration that the mids of 2003-2009 had.

That shoe had no significance to me... I love the 1 series and black toe colorway is dope...I don't care if he wore it or not.
