If any of these teams had won, everybody would have a whole different tune. You guys take four games in the first year of an idea being brought in, and use it as a referendum on anything that could happen in future years.
The problem is that not only did none of the teams win, but they were all double-digit losses, with 3 of 4 being 2 TDs or more.

To double down next round, all 4 teams that got byes are underdogs.

I know you have to have some type of fairness, but damn, it's hard not to think Miami or Alabama would beat or be competitive against Penn State or Notre Dame.

Plus, this is ALL about TV ratings and revenue. This was a one-year audition, and the new kids bombed their tryouts. Next year, we're getting our blue bloods back.

Another team that took advantage of an easy schedule falling behind early. :smh:

This is just going to be the norm going forward with these large super conferences.

Indiana, SMU, Tennessee and Clemson all benefited from easy schedules this year. Texas and Penn State also benefited from easy schedules as well even though they won.

If you clean up the seedings, that'll help get competitive 1st round games, but you're still likely to get blowouts in the QF's - which is likely gonna happen this year anyway with ASU and Boise getting bye's. Top 4 in the rankings get the byes, but ASU vs SMU, Indiana vs. Boise, Tennessee vs. Clemson, etc., or some other iteration would've been better. Keep em all at neutral sites.

There's always gonna be something wrong with it, but you certainly can't have 4 non-competitive games to open play. I think most of us just want some intrigue/good games/f'ery this time of year even though you pretty much know who the best teams are by this point.

What if the first round was also played in a neutral site?

I know the big schools’ fans would still take it over, but still, not the same as playing in your own stadium on your own campus, could make the first round games more competitive.
