I have a question: is it the opinion of most of you here that the Giants have ALWAYS been the more popular team in the Bay Area? It's obvious that's what they are now. But do you believe that was always the case?

Answer that and I'll understand where we stand.

No, but let's take it a step further.

Even when the A's had a popular run, the fact was, hardly a SF Giant fan cared. By cared, I mean, throwing salt or being bitter. In fact, at least out of those I knew or went to college with, we'd support the A's.

I wanted the A's to beat detroit and boston. I didn't want Terrance Long to be the last out and the image of him standing in the box w/ three pitches going by and the bat not leaving his shoulder is still vivid.

That's why I called it a complex earlier. It's very one sided, in my opinion,.

So it's in your estimation that the Giants fans have been gracious and supportive when the A's have done well and the A's fans haven't returned that support during this current elite run the Giants are on?

What I'm saying is -

If the Giant's are in contention and the a's are, most Giants fans either:
a) don't care
b) would root for the a's because it's the bay area

There's a minority of Giants fans who "hate" the A's. Using myself and my friends, people I grew up with since I moved, this has been my experience. It is NOT at all like the Cubs/White Sox fans. They hate each other and you hardly will find someone who likes both. Even when the White Sox won the series, Cubs fans were bitter.

I can understand your POV. I can think of a few Giants fans who are openly disrespectful of the A's, but know so many more who are supportive. And this is not a rivalry, I agree. The teams have had nothing to fight for since neither reside in the same city (which escapes most outsiders trying to understand why Bay Area teams don't generally dislike one another).

My reasons for hating the Giants (and really, I'm speaking essentially only to it's front office) are much different from another A's fans reason, I suspect. I guess I just resent the notion that A's fans are this bitter lot that are envious of the Giants fans. Jealous of AT&T Park? Absolutely, it's one of the best in baseball, according to people who would know. Of their history? I'd rather have the A's past, thank you.

All I know is Giants fans are stupid obnoxious at the Coliseum. Y'all are some loud mouths and I know for certain y'all don't bring that crap to Dodger Stadium. :lol

I've been to Dodger Stadium when the Giants were playing there, they definitely weren't popping off. Most were sticking together and being careful with eye contact :lol **** is wild in LA.

Everytime I walk through the coliseum I always get some loud mouth in my face telling me about the 4 WS that he didn't witness :lol

“@SFGiants: #SFGiants have purchased contract of RHP Ramon Ramirez from triple-A Fresno and have optioned Mike Kickham to triple-A. 40-man move TBA.”

I really dont car bout da a's to be honest. If da giants and a's are both in da playoffs i will wnat da a's to pull it off, so we can meet in da world series for sum un finish business.
