Good Bye
Melky Cabrera
Freddy Sanchez
Xavier Nady
Aubry Huff
Guillermo Mota
Jeremy Affeldt 3-15M 3-17M
Angel Pagan- I'm think somewhere in the 8-10 range for three years.
Marco Scutaro- Give him what he wants. (2- 16M) I think he made 6M this season.
I think Melky is of of the question. Even if he comes super cheap which he should. I could see some one overpaying based on the fact that there isn't a lot of outfield help out there unless you want to break the bank on Bourn, Hamilton or Upton.
How can we kick Pence to the curb?
A few things:
-I agree with your first list. See you later guys. Thank you Freddy and Aubrey for 2010. But we are done there.
-I agree Affeldt is worth around $5-6M a year. Dodgers may have ****** us here. League is making $7.5M and is not as good as Affeldt.
-Pagan will get more than 3 for 24 from another team. You can bet on that. I like Pagan a lot, but I dont want to overspend for him. He is a streaky hitter, and played much better defense this year than ever in his career. If we are stuck with a big contract for a guy who doesnt historically play great defense, I wont be happy. I agree with your numbers being what I want to give him, I just dont see him taking that personally.
-I agree with your sentiments about Scutaro, but I wouldnt give him "whatever he wants." 2 for 12-14 seems right to me.
-I would love to have Melky back, but I just dont see it happening. I am not sure I want Blanco as our everyday LFer, but I love Blanco as our 4th OF.
-I'm confused about your last statement about kicking Pence to the curb. I know you arent saying we should, but I dont even understand the idea. Hes under our control for next year. So why is this even brought up? By the way, I fully expect Pence to have a monster season next year (.285, 25Hr, 95 RBI)
Grady Sizemore is still young. Does he have one more run left in him?
Can't forget about Gary Brown waiting in the wings.
Hell no to Sizemore. Theres no point.
And call me the eternal pessimist, but I dont think Gary Brown will ever be that good. When a player is drafted out of college (especially drafted HIGH out of college), there is a reasonable expectation that he is very close to being MLB ready. You have played 3-4 years at a high level, and are typically in your early 20s. Brown was drafted out of college, and has already spent three seasons in the minor leagues and cant even crack AAA?
I pray that I am wrong here, but I think that fact alone speaks volumes about how good he is going to be. He didnt even play great in AA last year. He is 6 years out of high school now. This will be a very telling year for him. If he hovers around .270 again, I would be SHOCKED if he is every a productive Major Leaguer, let alone being a future star like our organization thinks he will be.
