Official 2023 San Francisco Giants Off-Season Thread - Jung Hoo Lee signs with SF 6-years $113 Million

CHICAGO -- Brandon Belt saw a concussion specialist Monday and will be sidelined at least two to three more weeks. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Belt "needs some rest right now."

"He's going to need some time," Bochy said. "I do know that."

Belt is on the disabled list for the second time after getting hit by a throw during BP last month. He has not been able to shake the concussion symptoms.

The Giants also were without Buster Posey on Wednesday. The catcher has tightness on the left side of his hip, but the Giants were hopeful Posey would be able to play Thursday.

^Ehh.....I dunno.  Defensively, he has always been very good....so that's fine.  But as far as hitting goes?  I dont know.  Yes, his power numbers have gone up, so I guess that is really good for us.  But his batting average is still horrible, and his average with runners on base was poor....and his average with runners in scoring position was downright atrocious.

Until he can learn to hit for average more consistently, he will be a disappointment.  The power numbers are nice, but unless he becomes a 30-40 homerun hitter (which I dont see happening), him having a sub .240 average is not going to cut it.

Not going to make an excuse for him but at the same time his sample size is incomplete for this year given the injuries and on again - off again timing.

Who the hell threw the ball that hit him in the head? Jesus.

Giants are apparently finalist for Rusney Castillo who has drawn comparisons to Yasiel Puig. Along with Daniel Carbonell, the Giants could potentially have some outfield depth when/if Pagan goes down.

Very important win heading to Washington. Hopefully we don't get swept by the hottest team in baseball.

The team can afford him. Tired of hearing this crap about them having a limit.
If they want to have a limit, then they need to stop overpaying old players.

According to an industry source, the Red Sox  have reached agreement with Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo  on a seven-year, $72.5 million deal that will take effect starting in 2014 and run through 2020

The 5-foot-9 Castillo is viewed as a player with elite speed that allows him to be a game-changer on the bases and also permits him considerable range in the outfield, where he can play center or right. He also shows the ability to impact the ball as a line-drive/gap hitter.

Castillo’€™s former teammate Yoenis Cespedes  offered the following description of Castillo to WEEI.com earlier this month: ‘€œIf he’€™€™€™€™s not a five-tool player, he’€™€™€™€™s a least a four-tool player. He’€™€™€™€™s very comparable to [Dodgers outfielder Yasiel] Puig. Obviously a different height and size, but very similar qualities.’€

Of course we didnt get him.  SMH.  I dont get it.  We print money at AT&T park.

Just feels like they care more about what's the next thing they're going to add to the ballpark :{

Been bitting my tongue about this... Espn has us #4 in MLB in attendance money is being printed. We'd easily be #1 or #2 if AT&T held more than 42,000 If the spin this offseason is its either Pablo or a 2nd tier big name starting pitcher than this team really does plan on milking the 2010/2012 seasons for all there worth.
