Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Season Thread Vol: (17-17)

Lol....c'mon man. I'll calm down once our division lead hits double digits. Remember CP..I'm not just a Cubs fan, I'm a Chicago fan. I've gone through more heartbreak than you. I value every game. Yes, I know that a game against Seattle in July has little significance, but I want us to get rolling again. The clip we started at was unbelievable, and I don't expect us to hit that again, but as long as we keep winning series, we'll be good.

Also u can have the best record or wildcard....october baseball is unpredictable. The best team doesn't always win. It's the hottest team that does

You don't need a double digit lead for anything.

Cards won 100+ last year, we kicked their ***.

Point blank, bottom line, period, be healthy in October, this team has a chance.

Killing yourself every game for 6 months does NOTHING for October. Joe, Theo, Jed MUST think bigger picture, that's what they're doing.

Rest, wear & tear are vital late in the year. Sadly we taxed the pen tonight, but we've given Hendricks, Hammel, Lester, Arrieta an extra day of rest. We get Soler back in a few days. LaStella workin in Triple A, Grimm gettin some rest, by October Joe will have the 25 best guys ready. These games won't mean anything.

Believe the culture, not the results.
Believe the process, not the results.

They know what they're doing.

Oh, by the way, this sets up Cardinal series as Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Hammel.

I'd say that's fairly important. ;)

Pen tonight: 9 innings, 5 hits, 0 runs, 12 K's.

They made up for blowing yesterday's game when they had 2 out in the 8th and lost it.

Team game. :hat

reading the comments is funny as heck. LOL. Great win last night. we was down 6-0. I turn the game off and start watching Power. I got the alert on my phone. I hurry and turn back to the game. LOL

Tough matchup vs the marlins. They look like the real deal and will give the nats a serious run.

No more excuses theo and jed did more than enough for this team to win. It's now up to the players

Lot of arms will start coming thru the system by late 17, start of 2018, that will help. IF, they make it all the way thru and develop like we need them too. Really hope they all get to Double and Triple A late this year, early next year so we can really gauge where they're headed.

Happ, Eloy, and EJM will be the reinforcements over time.

Note, Almora, Carl Edwards Jr, and Contreras were on this list a couple months ago, but they are basically big leaguers now, even if they go down here and there. So there's still plenty of youth in the system that will help in the coming years. Via with the big club, or trade(s)

W. 64-41

What a job by Kyle Hendricks giving the pen a night off. :hat

Rizzo Single, Double, Triple, Walk, GBP. :lol :hat

Man...if Hendricks and Lester continue dealing and Jake shores it up by the playoffs, it's gonna be nasty for opposing batters.

Hendricks was dealing. Rizzo bats been hot lately. we almost at 70 wins

All we need from them is 6 plus.....7 inning tops then it's bullpen time.

I get all giggly typing this but if the cubs do get there u guys that aren't from Chicago should make the trip.

#Cubs starting pitching: 2.81 ERA in 17 games post All-Star break
(2.37 minus the Matusz start)

Jason Hammel with 6 shutout innings. :hat

Strop made an error that gave up a couple runs tho, so another nailbiter, 3-2 bottom 7.

Close it out Cubs.

Hammel :Nthat
Javy with the solid glove out there when it really mattered.
9 game lead over the Cards :Nthat
Chap with the close :Nthat

Cards lose, 9 game lead. :hat

Bryant day off, still win. :smokin

Chapman closes it out.

Another series win. Haven't lost a series since the break. 13-6 last 19 games.

I think Ben should of caught the ball. It looked liked a decent throw from Strop.
