UCLA's athletic department posts $21.7-million deficit for 2020 fiscal year
UCLA’s athletic department, having doubled down on debt in the wake of a record shortfall, is facing a far bigger money crunch.

The Bruins’ $21.7-million deficit for the 2020 fiscal year, which brought their two-year deficit to $40.6 million, might seem like pocket change compared with how much deeper they are poised to plunge into the red.

The dual punch of COVID-19 and a fractious divorce from Under Armour will wallop a 2021 budget that could drastically exacerbate the deficit, leaving the department in need of a sustained turnaround sparked by football and basketball success driving ticket sales and donations to help close the gap in future years.

Not sure if this dude can actually be counted as an eagles coach, since he never actually coached a player with the team....

Why is it that UA seems to have fared worse due to the pandemic, compared to Nike and Adidas?

Drunken take:

People with stimmy money are gonna splurge and buy the two bigger brands Nike/Adidas.

While I own a lot of under Armour stuff for workout gear, they don’t have much to offer besides that IMO

Oh man, wonder if this is a prequel of things to come

I wish Jordan Brand would get the buckeyes on instead of just Nike and trash lebron PEs :lol

It’s more about usc wasn’t very high on Maaliks list of programs. UCLA was more appealing than usc to him.
Sark sealed the deal. Before sark, he was still giving Texas a lot of love. But sark was the final piece.

nako xl nako xl why weren’t y’all on that kid?
We discussed it 2 pages ago: Because he’s never started a game of varsity football and barely played and because SC leads on Malachi Nelson, a 2023 QB who is better than all the 2022 guys.

SC also never really recruited him. They were in on Duffy but dropped him too months ago when Brown committed in 22 and they realized they could get Dart in 21.

Kid’s a 5-star with like 58 varsity passes and 0 TDs?
All off his size and then projecting how good he’ll be. He looks the part.

This is basically 2019-20 all over again where they took Slovis so as not to scare off the generational guy Bryce Young. Hopefully it ends better this time.

Malachi Nelson, the kid they’re focused on:

Slovis seems to have worked out pretty well. Like that kid.

This other guy sounds like Tyrone Swoopes pt. 2 though...

I think so. He's the big favorite of those schools. Lets see how good Ty Thompson is next season. This could change.
It's not his real top 4. His #1 is ASU.

Anthony Beavers did the same thing to us last year:
