I never get why the media does this. What do they expect him to say? “Vanderbilt is pretty lucky to even still be playing D1 football”

Vanderbilt as an academic institution doesn't even want to engage in what Alabama, LSU, and the like do to be "the best" and don't want the negative perception that competing at an elite level brings. There are other schools like that (Cal and Northwestern, for example) so him saying that is disingenuous if only that he doesn't mean what everyone else takes that statement to mean.I never get why the media does this. I have a whole laundry list of opinions I can give about what this says about the state of the US health care system and why we are lagging behind other first world countries in life expectancy but I'll leave that one alone.
These are stories that fans don't think of when they call players greedy for wanting to get paid ("why are these kids so motivated by money?", "They're being short-sighted going for the money", etc) You never know what these student athletes are going through at home.
I remember a big reason that Todd Gurley signed autographs was so he could help repair the roof of the trailer his mother raised him in.
There's not a person living but who has said "let's bench Trevor Lawrence for DJ". Why does Dabo feel the need to lie about these types of things?

Hopefully it’s CoopI wonder who the first recruit who openly talks about and I owe money is going to be and I wonder how it will impact college football as a whole.
Although we have a full year of NIL under our belt, no recruit has openly talked about their deals or the bidding process. I can't wait for the first recruit to say "The reason I signed with XYZ school is because they offered me a more larger NIL package. It's not about the proximity to home, relationship with the position coach or the campus, I'm choosing the school because of the money."
Glad it’s gone. So annoying seeing it come out when we’re getting clapped.
Kinda garbage IMO
