I heard a radio interview with Stephen Jackson a while back, and he specifically said that there was a point in the NBA season every year, that if you made it that far passing drug tests, there were no more until the next season starts. He even went as far as saying that Don Nelson would call a team meeting, tell everyone that the drug tests were done for the season, and everyone could smoke now (which led to cheers and high fives in the meeting).I THINK it's "at random" and who knows when he was actually tested vs when the results came vs when they decided to go public with it.
Wait....Monta was tested during the offseason?
Obviously, Jackson hasnt played in a number of years so I guess things could have changed. But he said that it was common NBA practice.
