Kelly definitely had different ways of running his program, and that's what i love about him. He was tremendous there. I never hated that program. If anything, i kind of admired that program even when I wasnt supposed to.

Its why i've been begging for him to be the next USC coach for a couple of years now. I legit would take him over most coaches out there.

What makes you think Oregon wants Lane Kiffin or that he'd be an upgrade over Helfrich?
I'm just throwing a name out there who i feel could be a great fit. Has nothing to do with whether i think Oregon would want him. Is that what we do here? Need to make sure a team would want a coach before throwing names out there? Its that serious?

And i won't even comment on whether i think he would be an upgrade over Helfrich or not. I think thats a silly argument.
Helfrich has been a much more successful college head coach than Lane.

Tout Lane's OC accolades all you want, but offense wasn't the issue with him at Oakland, UTk, or USC and offense has never been Helfrich's problem.

Eh, Helfrich also didnt have the handicap Kiffin had when he took over. I think its a terrible argument using coaching records to compare the two. Helfrich inherited a very good program with Marriota as his QB. Kiffin inherited a team on the decline and had to deal with having a less than full roster where they had to stay away from hitting each other in practice. Even with all of my dislike for Kiffin, I can admit he did a tremendous job and juggling the limited scholarships made available to him and staff. Hell, he could write a book on how to do it when you get screwed by the NCAA.

I'd be confident in saying if both of them were getting a head coaching gig next year, Kiffin would land the better one.

One more thing on why I don't think without a meltdown the rest of the way (1-3, 0-4) Oregon will fire Helfrich: His buyout is $11.6 million right now. The state of Oregon is in a budgetary crisis. It'd would be awful politically for the state to argue there's no money then pay a public official 8 figures just to go away, then turn and raise even more money out of thin air to give to another one to take his place.  Especially when that official is an athletics coach.

I can certainly see them go 1-3 during the last 4 games of the season. hell, I'll even say its looking like a guarantee he does. So the Stanford game would be a job saver for him in order to go 2-2? They ain't beating USC or Utah, so that leaves Stanford and @Oregon State.

If I'm being completely honest, I can see them beating USC.

I don't think they will, but they score enough, and SC turns it over often enough to.

I want Helfrich to stay atleast one more year. They really have to get this defense figured out though, and that starts with never letting Brady Hoke here in the first place

possible ideal replacements for Hoke?

had no idea he was at CU.

He IS the reason for the CU turn around. The buffs defense has been spectacular (relatively speaking) since he took over. I realize he will probably bolt after this year, but I hope he stays. :smokin

Aca'Cedric Ware sprained his ankle and knee at last nights practice and was carted off. 50/50 for Saturday. Justin Davis running but won't be cleared to play. Jonathan Lockett also out with a hip/groin injury and is going to get an MRI.

It's all coming together for Oregon.

In happy news: Kenny Bigelow is doing calisthenics and light jogging with the team.

makes sense. I should have known there was someone there with a name attached making some noise.

But yeah, he's probably outta there.

KB. Feel for the big man. Was expecting him to anchor this D last season. We paid big money to get him.

He'll never be that guy.

We'll be fine this weekend. Never seen you talk like this. Its like we traded places.
