A belt does not define Saul Alvarez

True, but why vacate it now that he had no choice but to fight ggg or vacate? Taalmbout he fears no man and we are still negotiating. What was all that talk about when he said he will put the gloves back on and fight him? Canelo actin like a proper version of floyd smh.

Canelo: "I will fight ‘GGG,’ and I will beat ‘GGG,’ but I will not be forced into the ring by artificial deadlines."

Canelo: "By putting aside this ticking clock ‘GGG’ and I can get in ring as soon as possible and give the fans the fight they want to see.

The WBA is enforcing their GGG-Jacobs mando now.

How was Floyd acting?

I'll probably be in the minority but I think that's actually a good move, I respect it.

He never really earned the belt because he never beat the real dude at 160, but If he drops the belt and stops parading around like he's the champ, he doesn't look like a fraud anymore, just a dude that needs some tune-up fights before moving up a weight class for a real tough opponent. GGG can unify without him standing in the way with some bs catchweight bouts, and when he does move up, the fight is major. I respect it. He's not ready yet and he knows it, so in the meantime let GGG have his belt.

I think GGG vs Jacobs could be a way more competitive fight anyway, Canelo ain't doing **** to GGG imo. I give Canelo slim to no chance and I really don't know why people are so excited to see that fight, we all know he's gonna get worked.

Glad he vacated/striped the belt. Still rooting for the guy, but the right move was made.
If you're not going to fight at the weight class why hold it? let someone else cook.
This might be an "L" for Saul but a "W" for the sport of boxing.

Hopefully the other sanctioning bodies take heed and follow suit.
Time to start pitting the top ranked fighters against each other and give the fans something viable.

Wonder if Canelo stays fighting at 155 or moves up full time to 160 or goes to 154.

If Canelo waits till 2020 or 2021, will he have a chance vs GGG?

There's a rumour that GB reached out to Liam Smith's camp during the back and forth in negotiations with Khan.

Where's Rigo?

The WBA reinstated Rigondeaux and ordered him to face interim titleholder Moises Flores (24-0, 17 KOs), of Mexico, in a mandatory fight by Aug. 1.

"If either Flores or Rigondeaux wish to face any other opponent, the WBA may consider an application for a special permit consistent with WBA rules," the WBA wrote in its ruling.

Both are planning to take interim bouts. Flores is slated to face former bantamweight world titleholder Paulus Ambunda (24-1, 10 KOs) on June 11 in Ambunda's hometown of Windhoek, Namibia. According to the WBA, Roc Nation Sports is in talks with Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn about a possible fight for Rigondeaux against bantamweight world titleholder Jamie McDonnell (28-2-1, 13 KOs), of England, who would move up in weight if they make a deal.
