OFFICIAL 2015 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS OFF-SEASON THREAD (Lance, PP, Josh Smith, Aldrich - pretty nice l

Did you guys ever notice Michael Eaves leaving all the Clipper coverage? I was
eek.gif
 when I saw him Sportscenter tonight, and even more
eek.gif
 when I found out he left FSN in 2013 for Al Jazeera

Nuts, I would have sworn to anyone he was doing Clipper coverage all this time. Mind blown

Yea, it was pretty obvious when he wasn't on any Clippers Live or Angels Live programs. Un-followed him on Twitter when he started Spamming the Al Jazeera America launch

I swear I never realized it. I even noticed that Bad Porn started doing the post game shows, for some reason it never registered with me that Eaves was missing

It throws me off when I see people switch networks. When I saw Lindsay Soto on the NFL Network years ago it shook my world up

The NBA has fined the Clippers $250,000 for violating rules prohibiting offering players (D. Jordan) unauthorized business/investment opps.

‏@MarkG_Medina
NBA announced it has fined Clippers $25,000 for including a potential third-part endorsement during DeAndre Jordan pitch

‏@ramonashelburne
The violation involved a presentation to DeAndre Jordan on July 2 that improperly included a potential third-party endorsement opportunity

@ramonashelburne
Essentially, teams can only offer a contract to a free agent. Any other potential endorsement is considered to be circumventing the CBA

@ramonashelburne
The NBA’s investigation concluded that the presentation of this opportunity had no impact on Jordan’s decision to re-sign with the Clippers

@ramonashelburne
But, including it in a presentation was a violation of the anti-circumvention rules. Hence the fine.

Here comes the bashing again......

Feels like this was the NBA finding a way to get back at LAC for the tampering they did with DJ to get him to come  back to the Clips.

This is a fine that could be levied to almost every team during the Free Agency period.

You can't tell me the Lakers or the Knicks don't have full blown mentions about a player being able to be endorsed by company x in their pitches.

I'm thinking the same thing. But maybe other teams are smarter about how they offer the endorsements in the pitch meetings. Regardless, really does seem like the league just wanted to punish the Clips in some way for what happened. Whatever. It will be long forgotten by the time training camp opens

Yeah I don't think it's a big deal per say, and by october this will be long gone but it's like come on, it just reeks of pettiness to me and I hate petty ****

If the league is going to get that cynical and that tedious with the investigation of Free agent pitches, then by virtue of the markets they're in the Knicks, Lakers, Bulls, etc. all should be subject to investigation because there's no way that those teams keep their free agent pitches to the money that can be made within their cap space.

We already know this. It was discussed this summer how the Lakers focused pretty much entirely on LA and non-basketball opportunities. The difference seems to be that the Lakers didn't actually offer anyone an endorsement deal in the pitch meeting. Pretty silly disticntion if you ask me.

Honestly the only reason I would want Hayes on the team is so another team can't use him to defend him. Dude has tree trunks for legs. Blake trying tk back him down is one of the saddest things I've seen :lol:

It really is. I remember a game like two or three years ago when Hayes was on the Rockets and he completely locked up Blake. Think BG ended up with like 10 points or something and took all kinds of struggle shots. Might be good for Blake to have to deal with that in practice.

The crazy thing is, defensively, they share a lot of similar principles.

Speaking of which, I don't think people realize how good of a defender Blake was last year.
 Looking through Synergy Sports data from last year. Among defenders who faced 100+ post-up possessions, Blake Griffin had lowest PPP (0.61).
 Opponents shot just 33.0% against Griffin in post-up situations and turned the ball over 17.3% of the time. That's incredible.

^^^ Can't wait to see the reaction when you post those Blake defensive stats in the NBA thread. Flopping comments and gifs galore.

Good call. It really is hopeless in there. People started Clippers bashing in there yesterday in response to a topic that on the surface had nothing to do with the Clippers. It was comical.

Lol I was honestly talking in general about how every athlete thinks their era was tougher than the eras that came after and it somehow turned into a Clipper/CP3/Blake thing.

Kind of alluded to this in the NBA thread, but do you guys feel about the importance of being a top two seed going into the playoffs?

Since 2012, only one team made the WCF w/o being a top two seed. (Memphis. And that was only in 2013 when they faced OKC w/o westbrook)

Furthermore, in the past two years, only one team has won a playoff series in which they didn't have homecourt.
