OFFICIAL 2014-2015 @miamiHEAT SEASON THREAD (31-36) : RILEY GOT DRAGIC....DISCOUNTED!!!!!

Rebuilding won't be as easy as some of you guys are putting it.

The salary cap for the NBA is 63.5 million. If Wade, Bosh, and LeBron are going to get 20million each totaling 60million that's only 3.5 million to spend. Also Haslem is due 5million next year so basically we're already over the cap.

Contracts need to be re-done.

Duncan gets 9.5million and Parker and Ginobilli get 12.5million each totaling 34.5million out of 63.5million leaving them 29million left to spend on great role players that they already have.

In order to get to their level the Big 3 are going to have to have major paycuts especially Wade.

Also Mike Miller can't comeback to the team since he was amnestied. Technically the Heat are still paying him 6million dollars a year still, this year and next year.

It's all about redoing contracts this offseason and taking paycuts if they still want to win. Just gotta hope for the best. :\

I dont think Lebron is going anywhere. I dont see how Wade would have a problem taking a pay cut, especially if they're talking about bring another star in.

Birdman just opted out.

Miami Heat big man Chris Andersen will decline his of his $1.45 million player option for next season and become a free agent, according to Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears. Miami's supporting cast could look quite different in a few months.

Guard Ray Allen said he still loves playing, but is considering retirement after 18 seasons. Forward Shane Battier is retiring after 13 seasons. Free-agent point guard Mario Chalmers told Yahoo Sports he would like to re-sign with the Heat, but he struggled in the postseason and lost his starting job in Game 5. Forward-center Chris Andersen will opt-out of his contract to become a free agent, a source said. Longtime Heat forward Udonis Haslem has a contract option for next season. Sharp-shooting forward Rashard Lewis is a free agent also, and the Heat will have competition for his services, a source said.

Andersen's decision is essentially a no-brainer financially. He has been an absolute steal since he joined the Heat, finishing around the basket and providing solid pick-and-roll defense and rim protection in addition to his vaunted energy and activity. A key part of Miami's playoff run, he appeared to be much less than fully healthy in the NBA Finals, where he averaged just 2.6 points per game and made 25 percent of his shots.

While Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has always been a big Anderson fan, his future with the team is uncertain simply because the organization has a lot of other questions to answer. All three of its stars could opt out, and it looks like the roster needs an injection of athleticism and shooting. Andersen could surely still fit in, but there are a lot of moving parts.

Congrats on a year granted to be able to troll. Last two years have been pretty boring for you it seemed.

I was still hating on Lebron the last two years and will do so after this. Does not change much. It is just more enjoyable with all the humbleness going on by his stans.

Also, I don't really like to troll the real Heat fans like Drewsome. Only the annoying ones or the Lebron stans like xpopocateptl, tyonenine, americangenius, etc.

I think the team does not need an injection of athletecism or shooting. They have plenty of that if Allen does not retire. They need to change their LeISO or pick n roll system and go for a more team oriented approach. That will mean less assists for Bron but it will mean less wear and tear as well. The Heat are still the second best team in the league so they don't need to do anything drastic.

This offseason will be interesting I have faith we will be right back in it next season, Wade needs to take less money but idk if he will.

I wonder what kind of foresight Riley has for the next 10 years. It's crazy how the Spurs essentially replaced G. Hill for D. Green and out of it comes Leonard. What a steal... the Heat have never really built through drafts though, but that's just Riles' style.

Rashard Lewis > Mike Miller in my opinion.

The Heat should try to keep Lewis and Birdman. Lewis especially if Ray Ray retires.

I disagree. MM was a bit more consistent.

Its ironic Wade made that joke about Lewis making a shot "one day" only to be that guy in the finals.

I'm a Lebron Stan? Wow, I learn something new everyday.

you called me a joke in the lebron hating thread for spitting truth about lebron
why would a self respecting and REAL heat fan go in there? That is a pure lebron stans vs lebron haters thread

I also think Miller was better than Lewis. I don't know if it is just me but it seemed that Rashard favored the corners too much and at times became easy to defend. Miller was shooting from EVERYWHERE and deeper as well. I think Miller was a better team defender as well.

Well Bron, Wade and Bosh have 8 days to decide whether to opt in or out. If either Bosh or Wade opts in, you guys are screwed.

I've never posted in that thread. You have me confused with someone else. :lol

Rashard Lewis & Chris Andersen are going to get themselves a decent sized pay raise this offseason.

Birdman Birdman. We'll always have the memories. :{

absolutely not. rashard? talking bout the same dude who airballs the corner 3 at least once per game right?

this offseason:

we lose birdman and battier to begin. we need to work on team chemistry BIG time. also need to train our role players. AND... we need to actually let our role players touch the floor. (LOOKING AT YOU SPOELSTRA)

- ray needs to get back in the gym to making 100s of 3pt shots per day. his shot has been so unreliable

- lebron needs to keep being lebron. hes the only player consistently improving his weaknesses every offseason

- wade, lose weight, rest up, develop a 3. no excuse for him to not have a 3pt shot yet. its not that hard. seriously.

- rashard, he needs to be practicing his 3 right next to ray and wade. if not...leave.

- haslem, go back to working on midrange jumper

- bosh, contact practice 1st and foremost. we gotta toughen him up so he can be more aggressive on drives. some 3pt practice

- rio.... *sigh* rio rio rio...who knows. hes been with us for years but still makes rookie mistakes. practice EVERYTHING

- cole, practice the 3 right alongside ray wade and rashard. every day.

- tony allen, practice with the team in general and work on chemistry

- beasley, work on defense and cleaning up offensive game

- oden, keep improving health, lose weight if possible

- james jones, work on defense, possibly put on a little weight

- COACH SPO: you need a complete overhaul. You have the skill level and ingenuity of a YMCA coach. Watch tapes of Doc Rivers coaching/plays, and Pop's coaching. 100s of tapes. Then...call them up. Humble yourself and ask for tips on how to better lead a team. Learn how to make adjustments in-game. That "ebb and flow" of the game is for weak n***as. Strong coaches fight to control the game...not be controlled by it. Staying the course is for cowards. You're a coach. TAKE THE REIGNS. Be big enough to take out your star player if theyre messing up too badly. Practice actual plays, not just "give lebron the ball." Learn how to run a solid zone. We got killed by the Spurs because they would turn our man to man into a messed up zone in under 3 passes.

Parker runs up top and passes to green, who quickly passes to Timmy. Next thing you know, our entire team, WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN MAN TO MAN, is suddenly all shifting towards the ball in a weak ZONE! Timmy sees this kicks it cross cross court to ginobli/kawhi/patty mayonnaise/green who is sitting WIDE THE F*** OPEN and they knock down the 3. In cases like these, either switch to a 3-2 zone to stop the 3 from raining ever so mercilessly on our heads and force them to drive (especially when parker is going 0-9... you probably want them to drive) or tell them to stick man to man at all costs, except for switching.

in short: LEARN TO COACH

We've got alot of work to do this off season. BUT IT CAN BE DONE! And none of it begins or ends with melo. Melo coming here only masks the problem. In fact, it makes it seem as if the problem was not having enough firepower, instead of our firepower being weak as it is...

Miller was way more consistent, Spoelstra just buried him on the bench. Miller was a great passer, could play defense, and rebound. People forget the short stint last season where he was averaging 16ppg.

Miami needs another 1,2, and 5. Ennis will come in at the 3 and instantly add athleticism, would have liked to see Miami have kept Liggins, but that's on the staff for that one.

I think Beasley returns, but they certainly need a defender/heady player to replace Battier.

My All-Time Miami Heat Roster

PG- TIM HARDAWAY , GARY PAYTON ,
SG- DWYANE WADE , EDDIE JONES , RAY ALLEN , STEVE SMITH
SF- LeBRON JAMES , GLEN RICE , JAMAL MASHBURN
PF- ALONZO MOURNING , CHRIS BOSH , UDONIS HASLEM
C- SHAQUILLE O'NEAL , RONY SEIKLEY , GRANT LONG

WHAT SAY YOU?

My list of players who should not be re-signed:

Chalmers (he still does not get it)
Beasley (pretty sure not playing defense is what keeps him on the bench)
Jones (there are other 3 point shooters in the league that can actually move their feet on d)
Haslem (his body has quit on him. will miss him)

Players who can stay but need a paycut:

Wade (if he opts-in the team is dead and Lebron has to leave if he wants to win championships)
Allen (limited minutes at best)

Players to get paid:

James
Bosh (would love to see him get to play his natural spot @ the 4)
Birdman

Undecided on the rest of the crew. Cole has his moments, but can we get someone to do what he does better? Willing to give the Oden project another year. Lewis fits the system well, but underproduces somehow.

Someone should start a list of FA that would fit with what we do.
