They signed him to be a decent PG before they knew they'd have Harden (who handles the ball a lot) like shoeking said.

But they also signed him from a purely marketing standpoint. I don't wanna over-generalize, but they wanted to capture the Asian, Asian-American audience. The same audience who nearly voted Shane Battier into the All-Star Game just because he was Yao's teammate.

Lin sucked for decent stretches of the year and people who didn't watch basketball still buzzed about him. He could've sucked completely (or actually did) but still made the Rockets some $$$. The Rockets basically went the attention whoring route, which now that I think about it, works for some of their additions this year...
People always say this and every time it's always overstated & overplayed. The Rockets don't make more money off of Lin than they made off of Yao. Yea a few more people may watch the team but he doesn't affect their bottom line in terms of making money.
I was there. It's definitely tons of Asian Lin only fans and some of them even rock Brooks jerseys since he played over there. James Harden's face isn't even on the ticket they print out. It's Lin in a superman pose with Delfino, Parsons, and I think like Garcia fading way smaller into the background

And yes he is terrible, especially if your goal is to win something in the playoffs since dude always crumbles and.or feigns injury in the biggest of moments. I won't be shocked when Canaan is starting before the all star break just for his 3pt shooting making him a better fit than the other 2

oh how times have changed.

I still blame the MLB for all of this.

Once they started handing out stupid and ridiculous contracts other leagues took notice and the athletes started to feel they were entitled to more.

In a sense teams still ain't paying players the right price. If allowed, Bron should be making 50 mill a season. However my main issue is based on WHO teams give these insane contracts to. Yall really think Deandre Jordan worth 44 mill?

I lost all confidence after this...

Just watched MJ win his first title against Magics Lakers

In the post game they talked about the torch been passed from Magic to MJ and Jordan talked about how he LOVED THE COMPETITION.

Something missing today.

Edit: also spoke about when he was first drafted they "started from the bottom." :hat :lol

:eek Hibbert looking like a monstar.

So mj made 3.8 mil one year and 30 mil the next? That's crazy.

I left Jay off the list because of the manslaughter, didn't want to run the risk of the piece being flagged. Same with Michael Ray Richardson because of his banishment. I probably could've included Richardson but whatever, rather be safe than sorry.
