Here's the thing about these pictures: They aren't relevant to this discussion.

If we're talking about all time players who we would take, then Yeah I see the point. But this whole thing started with why Melo isn't a number one option. (Which he is, a great one at that.)

The point still stands that as of right now, Melo as a number one option is better than Kobe, and Duncan. Hell, Duncan is a #2 option right now which is partly why the Spurs are so great. If you're measuring the success rate of these players the last couple of years, then there's no way Kobe is a better number one option than Melo. Same for Duncan who's playing with a hall of fame PG. Dirk too.
Kobe and Duncan have both been more successful than Melo the past couple of years.

Wait, I might have misread

Are we counting success as making zero noise in the playoffs year after year?  Because on that note, Melo is wildly more successful than Kobe and Duncan, and probably every player not playing for a lottery team

Can this Indiana homer just stop.
I'm an Indiana homer, from Pittsburgh who's favorite players are Jamal Crawford and Rajon Rondo

long story short

false.

Using my logic Scottie Pippen is better than Melo because of his contributions away from the ball.

But I would want Melo as my number one option over Scottie, doesnt make him close to the better player
So Paul George RIGHT NOW = Scottie Pippen? lol. PG as of now is more comparable to Luol Deng from about 2-3 yrs ago. a better ball handling/passing version. Scottie was a point forward/ super elite defender, who could score efficiently at a high clip as a second option. a very rare player. Does Paul George have the potential to be that? Possibly. But right now, hes not that.

People saying Melo isn't hofer know there's referees in the hot there's a guy in the that didn't even average 10 points

6× NBA All-Star (2007–2008, 2010–2013)
NBA scoring champion (2013)
2× All-NBA Second Team (2010, 2013)
4× All-NBA Third Team (2006–2007, 2009, 2012)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (2004) FIBA World Championship All-Tournament Team (2006)
NCAA champion (2003)
NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player (2003)
Big East Rookie of the Year (2003)

Plus 2 gold medals and a bronze

He has 5-7 years left basketball to add to his resume, he makes it in easily
He's not Jordan, lebron or kobe people need to realize this but he's a great basketball player

No, I dont think Paul George will ever be that.

But I never said anything about Paul George = Scottie Pippen, I was just responding to you saying that Bruce Bowen >>>> Melo

I like PG but I think people are rushing his progression , he's on his way not there yet though with the elite guys.

He's mid tier :lol lets see him do it again for a season or two before he gets bumped up a notch.

Solarius no hate but is there a day that goes by when your not arguing with someone in this thread bro?

lol, its fun.  I missed NT, but I dont think we're arguing.  Atleast I'm not, I just like talking sports...it does get a lil intense on my side

but I do love what the Jazz have in Hayward, Favors and Kanter.  What do you guys think Hayward's ceiling is?

Not that high especially with that overrated slow bum Trey Burke.

those numbers mean something?

i dont see why Melo even gets into the HOF
College national championship, Two time Olympian it's the basketball Hof not the Nba
That's not enough to guarantee him a spot in the HOF. There are seven players who have won Olympic Gold, NCAA championships and NBA championship(s)

Quinn Buckner ,Olympic Champion: 1976, NCAA Champion: 1976 (Indiana Univ), NBA Champion: 1984 (Celtics)
Magic Johnson, Olympic Champion: 1992, NCAA Champion: 1979 (Michigan State Univ), NBA Champion: 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987-88 (Lakers)
K. C. Jones, Olympic Champion: 1956, NCAA Champion: 1955-56 (Univ of San Francisco), NBA Champion: 1959-66 (Celtics)
Michael Jordan, Olympic Champion: 1984, 1992, NCAA Champion: 1982 (Univ of North Carolina), NBA Champion: 1991-93, 1996-98 ( Bulls)
Clyde Lovelette, Olympic Champion: 1952, NCAA Champion: 1952 (Univ of Kansas), NBA Champion: 1954 (Minneapolis Lakers), 1963-64 (Celtics)
Jerry Lucas, Olympic Champion: 1960, NCAA Champion: 1960 (The Ohio State University), NBA Champion: 1973 (Knicks)
Bill Russell, Olympic Champion: 1956, NCAA Champion: 1955-56 (Univ of San Francisco), NBA Champion: 1957, 1959-66, 1968-69 ( Celtics)
This was cool to see.
Of an elite group.

Bruh, look at what Kobe and Dirk have done since 2010/2011. Duncan doesn't qualify for this discussions since he isn't the Spurs number one option.

Sweeps/getting bounced out the first round. Since that time, Melo has been a better number one option.

And this Paul George nonsense has to stop. Let him become great. If he's going to be this top tier number one option then let it happen. As it stands now, he's not a number one option, and surely not even close to Carmelo Anthony. Paul George is closer to the JR Smith's, Eric Gordon's, and OJ Mayo's, Iguodala's, and Luol Deng's of the world than a Carmelo Anthony.
