what made you think of this?

I really don't wanna get into the whole pressure thing but all I know is that dwight signed up with houston, said the goal is western conference finals (3rd place) and nobody blinked.that would not be ok with the lakers, especially if kobe was harden's age. so in houston the local fans/media would say "it's ok you did your best we'll get 'em next year". dwight called la fans ungrateful, basically they don't care if you just had surgery they expect you to play hard and not complain. I'm a laker fan but I usually give guys the benefit of the doubt.

as stupid as it was for lebron to say "not 5, not 6.." you gotta give him credit for openly having high expectations and dealing with the consequences whereas dwight is publicly shying away from the word "championship" and why? because he doesn't want that kind of pressure. he said several times last season that he misses free throws because he knows people expect him to and he feeds into it. that's dwight's mentality in a nutshell

i hate the have to quote this from 8 pages ago, and this isn't the only post i want to respond to but this one seemed like a good one.

this whole "pressure is bigger in LA" is simply because LA fans have unrealistic expectations. "we're supposed to win it every year!!!" it's a spoiled attitude of a franchise with success. i don't blame them though. you've been conditioned to being a perennial contender because that's what your team has delivered.

so to say no one blinked an eye in houston because dwight said the WCF is a goal isn't a problem with me. because in relation to the last 3 seasons where we haven't made the playoffs, that sounds pretty good. the end goal is championships though, don't think rockets fans aren't expecting one now that we have the pieces to compete, though.

@do work son but I mean what would be wrong with saying something like "even tho it's our first year the goal is to win a championship. no guarantees but that is what we are working towards". just seems like dwight tries to avoid criticism at all costs. your team is very good, what is it gonna take for him to say they are good enough to win it all?

in la all the great big men have rings. in houston they brought like 5 bigs to the press conference with 2 rings between them. so yea the pressure/expectations (if you consider yourself a great player) are definitely real with the lakers

its not just the fans when it comes to big market teams like the lakers/heat/yankees (heat are new to this but they are dealing with the same thing lakers teams have dealt with for years). for a small market team like the grizzlies, they come up short in the playoffs and a few grizzlies fans and some of their local media gets upset. when a team like LA or Miami loses not only are the fans upset, there are haters popping bottles rejoicing, espn is running non stop "______ team needs more help, they have no chance at winning anything unless they do something big" the entire country feels some way when a major team falls short, a small market team? not so much

Meh. Miami doesn't belong in the same sentence as the Yankees and Lakers.

Makes too much sense, won't compute for some

>D Losers mentality right there. I don't know why Dwight or any fan base would simply be happy with a WCF appearance. Especially Dwight but i'm not surprised. In the end, you don't win the ship than it don't matter.

I just wish the Rockets had somebody better than Lin at point guard and had kept Delfino. Harden and Dwight would have to be playing at an insane level for them to even sniff the Conference Finals this year. Dwight needs Ryan Anderson back or a clone of him next to him to be back to the dominant player he was.

Doesn't any team who hopes to win a championship has to have ther best players playing at a extremely high level?

:x at the thought of Jennings on the Pistons.

Might as well shoot Drummond right in the knees. Couldn't be any worse than having to play with Jennings.

Jenning needs to swallow his pride take that 1 year qualifying offer from the bucks and ball out this year, so that he can get the max contract he wants next year as an unrestricted FA. He should work on finishing with his off hand, maybe develop a floater that way he can stop relying on that awful step back jumper. Cause he took a gamble and it didn't pay off the only thing to do is improve and show everyone why you think you deserve to get that big contract.

However knowing him I doubt he's working on his game. Probably just doing that UA promotion tour. I wouldn't expect any less from a player who would rather go overseas and get paid then play in college and improve his game.

LeBron played like LeBron. Bosh was completely awful...one of the worst playoff performances I can remember by a star player. Wade was really, really bad some nights and really good some others when he got back to Miami to his HGH dealer.

in his 55 point game his rookie season didnt most of his points come from a floater. dude his a floater maybe u mean he should use it more than jacking up threes??
