Yeah, against "lesser" opponents... but doing the same against Fed?  That's something else.

^ Yes. That's what I was trying to get at. Novak had to step his game up for this match; he did that and then some. Coming back during the 2nd set like that against Fed? Just out of his mind, even if Federer made some mistakes.

There it is....

Djoker was always able to answer Roger's breaks. Props to him.

Still want to see Murray take it all, though.

Fed isn't what he used to be.  He hasn't been the same the past 2 years.  Age is def getting to him.

Epic tennis by Nole.  Don't let the straight-sets scoreline fool you... it was a lot closer than it looked.  Total points were 119 to 111.

Damnit, even with the alarm I couldn't get up early enough to watch the match. Looks like McEnroe's pick for Novak was on point.

Yeah, that's kinda expected with age.  I think his movement has been hit the most.  I was watching highlights of his 05 USO final against Agassi and he was dancing around the court and hitting all the lines on both wings.  Agassi wasn't 100%, but still Fed back then was a lot better than what we've been seeing over the past 2 years.

Don't think so (not officially anyway)... but they're good friends. Known each other since 12, back in their junior-days. She's still on Melbourne, so naturally she's there to offer support.
And a few more cuz she's a cutie.

I will never forget the 07 SF @ The Aussie Open.  Roddick was playing some of his best tennis and even said at a press conference that he thinks he's closing the gap on RF.  RF goes out and crushes 6-4 6-0 6-2 in about 1 hour 20 mins.  I remembering thinking...

RF spanked AROD like he stole something.

I hate this to sound like a memoriam to Roger's dominance (which it is), but my favorite Fed match was the 2005 semifinal against Marat Safin on Rod Laver. In the previous round, Federer completely dismantled Agassi in straight sets (1 break each set). At one point, Federer hit a pass that was godly, and when the camera panned to Cahill (who was still coaching Andre at the time), he gave this slight chuckle that I never forgot.

Anyways, I have a high regard of Safin's pure talent. IMO, he was probably the most skilled and gifted players I had recently seen at that time (his work ethic, mentality and composure is obviously another story). Roger and Marat basically went back and forth the entire match, a very entertaining duel between two very gifted tennis players. Federer lost in the fifth, but he went down swinging which was something I admired.

After that match, in the rest of the GS matches that he lost, he never showed that fighter's mentality. The last time he really had a five setter like that was against Nadal in the classic 2008 Wimbledon Final (which he also lost).

I died for the night once Djoko pulled out that second set. I knew there was a chance I would miss something epic, but it didn't feel like Fed had any chance after how that set panned out.

Does Djoko have any history of knee problems? I wouldn't be shocked at all, if, one of these days, one of his knees just crumbles from sliding like that on hard courts.
