Now you can argue Memphis didn't do enough with the money, or draft the picks correctly, or whatever, that's on their front office, but in the trade in and of itself, they did better then any other team that has moved a solid star.
My point wasn't what Memphis received but what LA received. My Pau reference was to your "PHX just wants to stay locked in the 8 or 9 spot". Not everyone can net a franchise changer. There are ton of teams who would have done the same exact thing as LA did, but there aren't enough Pau Gasol's to go around. Understand now? Probably not but I tried.

When you still have a productive Steve Nash for a few more years, you don't just blow everything up. That would go over real nice with the fans, they'd definitely come still come out and buy tickets

PHX has been the model of ineptitude over the past decade, maybe even more, but they're playing their cards just fine right now. They still some cards they can play.

The Lakers robbed them. Period.

Sure, we got the better end, but that is Memphis's fault for not using the 10 mil correctly, or drafting better.  The Assets they gained were more then anybody else, they just couldn't use them properly.

If the Spurs front office was given 10 mil, a young 7 footer and 3 #1's, they would have done much better with those same assets, correct?

The trade for Memphis was a good one, the execution afterwards, was not.

Who's yall? There was one bitter/incoherent Laker fan babbling on about nothing...

I think it's clear as day PHX won. They get out of Hedo's bad deal and add a quality wing and a quality center [don't grow on trees] both at decent rates. And get a first round pick.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP)—The father of Memphis Grizzlies player O.J. Mayo faces charges in West Virginia of trying to kill a police officer and other counts following a chase.

The Huntington Police Department says in a news release that 39-year-old Kenneth Maurice Ziegler of Huntington was arrested Thursday morning. He’s charged with attempted murder, two drug counts, obstructing and two fleeing counts.

Police say officers were searching for someone else at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday when they saw a person inside a vehicle trying to hide. When they confronted the man, he drove the vehicle into one officer and dragged him for several feet.

Ziegler was arrested following a pursuit. He was being held Thursday at the Western Regional Jail. Jail records did not indicate whether he has an attorney.
Yikes.

This is random, but I never understood why Lebron's quote "I'm going to take my talents to South Beach..." got so big, when Kobe's quote when he came out of high school "I'm going to take my talents to the NBA..." never got any pub. Both quotes aren't a big deal.

Rudy has, but Conley and Zach havent.

Also, i agree with cp. We couldve did more with that cap space, but we got Zbo with it who helped us ladt season. We got Arthur, Vasquez, Marc Gasol. I believe those the only two picks we received.

Arthur is definitely a solid backup pf, Vasquez may become a solid backup guard. Marc is Marc. Also, people didnt give Pau as much love back in Memphis at that time. If he stayed in Memphis, he probably wouldnt be viewed as the best pf in the game. I guarente it.

I still dont understand why we blew the team up and HAD to deal a guy that actually didnt mind playing in Memphis. If it was up to me i wouldve gave the team to Pau n Rudy and drafted solid pieces aroumd them. Pau was out most of the first season Rudy was drafted which was part of the reason we had a losing record WHICH resulted in the trade.Phoenix really got Jrich and VC cancel out because both are expirings. Richardson was also a big part of that team. They got borderline starters for Hedo and Jrich. They are definitely solid starters. Hedo's contract made it seem sweeter for them though.

Pau was unhappy the last year or two in Memphis.

What else could the Grizzlies have gotten though? The prior season, I think they were offered P.J. Brown, Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and picks. Gordon was going to be a free agent at the end of the year and Thomas would have reminded folks of Stromile Swift.

The Celtics were also offering a trade centered around Al Jefferson but the surrounding pieces probably would have been trash evident by how it turned out for the T'Wolves.

Thank you.  Thank God some people can actually look at more then Pau for Kwame.

And BHZ, I was referring to Crit as the third #1 being that he was in his 4 month as a rookie, and a rookie that we liked a lot in LA.  How they went with Conley over him I have no idea, and obviously he was lost once he went to Washington and the 21 gun salute.

theres no reason u cant at least get a lottery pick for pau gasol. melo is "unhappy" in denver and look at what the nets are offering. favors (number 3 overall pick) and like 2 more draft picks, one of which is sure to be a lotto pick.
