My point wasn't what Memphis received but what LA received. My Pau reference was to your "PHX just wants to stay locked in the 8 or 9 spot". Not everyone can net a franchise changer. There are ton of teams who would have done the same exact thing as LA did, but there aren't enough Pau Gasol's to go around. Understand now? Probably not but I tried.Originally Posted by CP1708
Memphis acquired FIVE assets for 1 second level star. Pau is a career #2, as evidenced by ZERO playoff wins in 3 series with Memphis.
But they got 3 #1 picks, a young 7 footer, AND 10 mil expiring. 5 assets. For 1 star, that was a borderline franchise guy.
Now you can argue Memphis didn't do enough with the money, or draft the picks correctly, or whatever, that's on their front office, but in the trade in and of itself, they did better then any other team that has moved a solid star.
When you still have a productive Steve Nash for a few more years, you don't just blow everything up. That would go over real nice with the fans, they'd definitely come still come out and buy tickets
PHX has been the model of ineptitude over the past decade, maybe even more, but they're playing their cards just fine right now. They still some cards they can play.
