No.

Because the meaning is variable, one second soft means this another second it means that.

Soft is a term invented by basketball fans to describe player they don't like, it doesn't have a concrete meaning is competently fluid from person to person.

did anyone ever look at Yao and say "Wow he is or could be dominant"?

I never did. Good player, but no signs of dominance.

I think Frail, soft and out of shape is kind of why.

Does shooting efficiently have value? Probably.

I know where you guys are going with this. I AM NOT SAYING TOUGHNESS IS NOT IMPORTANT. It is, I'm jut saying NTers have a warped perception of toughness. That idiotic Blake Griffen thread was evidence of this, I swear people think Amare's tough because he bangs a couple shots in the first row and throws down some dunks IMO I'll take Dirk's unathletic jump shooting whiteness in my foxhole over Amare any day.

A number of non-athletic, not quick players who are more productive rebounders than Yao, none of them 7'6", come to mind.

A 7'6" starter, as "dominant" as he was in the paint, and a potential "all-time great," should have done it better. Maybe it is just my opinion, but it's a reasonable one.

And he wasn't out of shape his whole career? I recall watching him lumber up and down the court every single possession and pick up a ton of sloppy fouls. It has been like six years since he's actually been on an NBA floor, though, so maybe I just can't remember.

I don't know what, "1 out of 5 in Canada we call that a fail, im not sure how your education system would score it." means.

maybe it'd be unfair to call Yao out of shape..

it's just the reality that you're not going to ever find a 7'6 guy that gets up and down the floor all that well.

No you @%!@+@+ dummy.

There are degrees to everything. I'm well aware of the vagaries that come with adjectives I am asserting that SOFT, is more-so that other words.

Soft in it's self is not an argument, it doesn't serve as proof, but intellectually lazy people fall back on it especially insports becasue it holds such currency over macho alleged tough guy internet jocks.

Hey, speaking of which, I think I might finally pick up a next generation system (PS3) this weekend. Once I get acclimated, I'll be up for a little 2K11 and Madden with you guys.
