Official 10' NFL Offseason Thread: CIN sign T.O. 1yr/2m

Or not blinded by hate. McNabb is an injury prone QB. And is no less errant than a Brett Favre. If you have the same risks for each player, why take one you know is going to get hurt?

Favre is much better than McNabb is. No question.

The Eagles need to make a trade with Oakland  in a way to somehow keep Asante Samuel and obtain Nnamdi Asomugha.

The California Highway Patrol says the 33-year-old player was confronted by officers early Saturday in a fast-food parking lot.

Porter refused to provide his driver's license and began to roll up his window when asked to leave the car. Police say that when an officer reached to unlock the door Porter slapped the officer's hand.

Porter eventually got out and complied with orders, placing his hands behind his back. He and a passenger were arrested.

The 11-year veteran recently signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He also has played for Pittsburgh and Miami.

I would like to clarify that I bolded (though it doesn't stand out "Police say that when an officer reached to unlock the door Porter slapped the officer's hand." and I was only laughing at that. Drunk driving itself is not funny.
Chargers likely to add Vasher
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 28, 2010 8:24 AM ET

Free agent cornerback Nathan Vasher has found a new home.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are close to signing Vasher.

Vasher was released by the Bears this month.

A 2005 Pro Bowler who has been injured and ineffective in the last three years, Vasher gives the Chargers some depth at cornerback after they traded Antonio Cromartie to the Jets.

In San Diego, Vasher will again play for defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and secondary coach Steve Wilks, both of whom coached Vasher in Chicago.
Report: Rams schedule draft-week workout for Sam Bradford
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 29, 2010 10:54 AM ET

Many teams with the first overall pick in the NFL draft decide on their choice well in advance, and some sign the top pick to a contract before draft day. But the St. Louis Rams' decision on the first overall pick in this year's draft will apparently go right down to the wire.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford is the favorite to be selected first, but the Rams won't decide for sure until they conduct a private workout with Bradford on Monday, April 19, three days before the first round.

That's a sharp contrast from the time frame that other teams have used in determining the first overall pick. In 2008 the Miami Dolphins formally introduced Jake Long as their first overall pick four days before the draft. In 2009 everyone knew for months that the Lions would pick Matthew Stafford first overall, and he agreed to a contract the day before the draft.

Mortensen reports that the Rams are "very likely" to select Bradford, but they're not going to decide for sure until that draft-week workout. Mortensen also says the Rams don't need to be "wowed" by Bradford's performance at his Pro Day because they know it will be his most strenuous throwing session since having shoulder surgery last year.

But they do hope to be wowed when they see Bradford three weeks later. And if they're not, it's still possible that they could pass on him -- in which case the ********, who have the fourth pick and have scheduled a private workout with Bradford on April 15, may be next in line.
Report: Parker would rather sit out 2010 than play for Steelers
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 29, 2010 10:52 AM ET

We mentioned last week Willie Parker could wind up returning to the Steelers, but the running back has other ideas.

A source "close to Parker" told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Parker would rather sit out this season than play for the Steelers again.

Oy.  It's not like Parker has many options, so it's unwise to burn bridges over his "treatment" in Pittsburgh last year.  (It also won't particularly help Parker live off his Super Bowl heroics for the rest of his life.)

There have been questions about Parker's toughness on the field, and this report makes you wonder about it off the field as well.
Kelly on Tebow: 'A class act, great guy'
ESPN.com news services

Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly kick-started his public campaign to pull his former team back into the NFL fold Sunday night.

Kelly

It began with Tim Tebow.

The former Florida Gators quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner dined with Kelly at a downtown Buffalo steakhouse as Tebow visited the Bills in advance of April's draft, according to a Twitter post by Kelly's wife, Jill.

"He's a class act and a great guy," Kelly said of Tebow, according to his wife's post.

Kelly has been a vocal supporter of Tebow and has made it little secret he'd like to see the team draft him.

"I wish I could say more," Jill Kelly wrote. "If only I were there too! LOL! It was a great night! Now before U go 2 bed - pray for our Buffalo Bills!"

The Bills, who hold one draft pick in each of the first four rounds (overall Nos. 9, 41, 72 and 107), have started nine different quarterbacks since Kelly retired. Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick split time in 2009, with Fitzpatrick taking the reins in Week 6.

The quarterback who led the Bills to four AFC championships has said a key to a return to greatness for the franchise begins under center.

"Whether it's Tim Tebow, whether they'll have a shot at him when draft time comes ... you have to look at the top three quarterbacks in the draft, really study them," Kelly said to USA Today in November. "And you look for a guy with good character, good leadership ability and good arm strength."

The Bills went to four straight Super Bowls from 1990 through the 1993 season with Kelly at quarterback. But there's been little to shout about in Orchard Park lately: Coach ***% Jauron was fired in November and 2009 was the team's 10th consecutive season without making the playoffs.

Kelly said he sought to offer assistance in luring coaches and players to Buffalo and eventually wanted to become part of an ownership group that would keep the Bills in western New York.

"You have to start with the head coach and you have to start with finding a good signal caller," Kelly said, according to the USA Today report. "You look at Indianapolis. You look at Pittsburgh. You look at New England. You look at what Drew Brees is doing in New Orleans. San Diego. All the teams that are doing well, they all have quarterbacks.

"The teams that are struggling, they don't have a quarterback," Kelly added. "You need that guy behind center, not only the guy who can throw the ball and make big plays. But to be the leader and be able to pull people together."

Information from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter was used in this report.

Wow. Gil Brandt says Sam Bradford's workout was the best he's seen since @Troy_Aikman worked out for Cowboys. And that's saying something.

Sam Bradford's pro day is in the books. Very good showing. Threw 63 passes. He'll be the No. 1 pick. You can bet the mortgage.

With the 1st pick of the 2010 NFL draft, the St. Louis Rams select..........

Parker seems to be forgetting what team signed and played him as an undrafted RB. Whatever though sit out the year that will help everything

Defensive end Mike Montgomery(notes) is expected to meet with the Vikings in Minnesota on Monday, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The five-year veteran out of Texas A&M was drafted by the Packers in 2005. In five seasons in Green Bay, Montgomery started just eight games, amassing 123 tackles and five sacks.
