I'm not the biggest drinker in the world but I do indulge in dark liquor from time to time. Cognac is my drink of choice. I prefer Hennessy but I do drink other brands as well.. don't want to turn this into a Hennessy appreciation thread.

I like whiskey as well. I don't know if I should keep it as a cognac thread cuz one special edition of Jack Daniel's could throw the thread in another direction...

My little Hennessy collection that I've been working on throughout the years... the master selection is a rare blend which comes out sporadically.

I had a few masters selections of Jack Daniel's as well but I either gifted them or drank them ... on the look out for those as well..

Not a Hennessy drinker per se, not like I used when I was younger, but I’d be interested in trying a bottle or two, where do I buy them?

i've been trying to actively get into bourbon but it's a pretty daunting task. Don't drink often enough so I just try and hunt hyped up bottles online.

I've actually ran into them randomly each time. The older versions aren't readily sold but the newest edition no 5 is available online.

Living in nyc I randomly walk into liquor warehouses or stores that peak my interest and will see it sitting right there. Each one cost about 100-120 bucks. I've had several bottles off most of them but have kept a few DS. I have some old pure whites as well..

Similar to the Hennessy in the process of what it means to the brand. This version was probably my favorite version of Jack. It was like a blend of gentlemen Jack and regular Jack with something else going on... lolololololol

Didn’t know these existed. Love Hennessy. Now I’m on the hunt :lol

huge Hennessy fan here... drink the regular one a lot and I like the henny white but keep that DS since its hard to come by... I might drink it though on special occasions... I finished my bottle of henny yesterday wasn't that much left... went to cop another bottle today and luckily they had the master blender #5... ended up coppin since I never had it before but might keep it DS

Okay, so does everyone know the story of Louis XIII, and how they make it? Lesson for you: it is sourced from 100% champagne grapes. NOT the grapes used to make actual champagne (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier), but champagne grapes, from a small region. The juice is aged for 100 years. The person who puts the juice in the barrel will not live to see the final product. Remy products tend to be in a mixture of age statements. Remy XO is up to 70 years. 1738 it up to 50 years, VSOP is probably a max of 20.

Can we add Armagnac to this thread?

I love how aging it doesn't reduce its fire very much but, unlike Cognac, aging raises the power of all the other prominent notes.

A good Armagnac is basically fire water on the front and some mix of marzipan, vanilla, mint, berries, cedar, etc. on the backend.

I love the stuff and anyone who is a fan of "brown liquor," should check it out if they haven't already.
