This isn’t my issue though, it’s more the sheer number of people who hate on a model until a hyped collab drops and those same people who were previously hating suddenly like the model because of newfound resale value and hype lol
Hell, this is 10000% not unique to 2s or even retro Js.. Look at SB Dunks-that’s a textbook example for you.

My theory that I previously mentioned ITT is Nike/JB knew they couldn’t move GR 2s at $190 retail without significant hype attached. I bet these hyped collabs along with an OG cw release in the near future is their way of make the model more lucrative to people who buy their bread/butter $190+ GR releases.

but isn't that the point of the the shoe? to generate hype and bring attention to the model that nobody besides the og's would look at? thus having a new wave of people wanting the next rendition no matter what it looks like. i just feel like we (me included sometimes) hold on to these sacred memories that these shoes provided us growing up, and want to protect it from "outsiders" trying to take what we had and mess it up. when it should be the other way around. let the young bucks enjoy the new wave even if it's based on our old one. either way nothing is going to top what we had no matter how much they slap a celebrity on it and deconstruct it with a zip tie!

Prices will go up for the moment because they know people are trying to get them. Wait until all the online pairs are in hand then prices will go down as people try to beat each other's prices on Stock X and Goat. Just wait for a week or so.

The 2 lows were my favorite shoes to wear back in high school. I had the white/red, white/navy, and all white with yellow. Would have been cool to get these but I'm not sweating it too much.

Now when the White / Black high’s eventually drop, which is soon I hope, it’s going to be a nightmare to get at them…Especially if they use a re-worked shape like they did on these pairs…
Double edged sword though…I don’t see Nike having released the OG 2’s again, with any meaningful effort to correct the problems recent 2’s have had that is, without any hype on the model
…Now maybe we might get a release with decent quality and shape…

You’re totally missing my point dude, I don’t care about more people liking a shoe, my issue is with people who actively hate/talk trash about a shoe and then instantly flip when they see it attached to a hyped collab. Why hate on something when it’s unpopular to then instantly change your opinion when it becomes popular simply for social acceptance? It’s lame hypebeast and resell culture that fuels this kind of thinking.
