You could be compensating for recoil. the recoil on a 9mm shouldn't alter your accuracy that much. Try aiming slightly lower where u want to hit and relax your shoulders; don't choke up so much
I went to my first gun show yesterday and I enjoyed the exp but was expecting some better deals than what I seen. I was looking to get either the Ruger LC 9 or the S&W Bodyguard.  After holding both, and getting familiar with them, the Ruger is definitely my next purchase. The slide on the Bodyguard turned me off, it wasnt one smooth motion but sort of a 2pt sliding; no bueno.

This will be a totally unscientific observation here...but an observation I have made throughout my years dealing with the various elements of the military...mostly the in the Spec Op realm.



With my own two eyes I have seen more guys in the field who get to select their own loadouts with EOTECH. They can choose whatever they want...and I've seen the gamut, from Aimpoint, EOTECH, Elcan Specter DR (which is in my opinion the best optic out) and Trijicon ACOG. But I see them with EOTECH for the most part. The Army has a huge contract with Aimpoint to supply them with the CCO (close combat optic), so units that don't have a choice are fielded them. THe Marines have a contract with Trijicon so they all have ACOG's (Marines will start using them in bootcamp to qualify instead of iron sights).




Ok I got off topic, lol. Anyway overall the EOTECH is better optic IMO...it has both point and area capability. It's easier to hit a moving target with an EOTECH...just keep the target within the donut and you'll hit more often than not...for point applications you can use the center dot. The Eotech is VERY durable. The reticle is actually a reflected laser image...it's not actually on the glass you are looking through...this means that if your glass breaks the image can still be projected parallax free. Aimpoint is just a dot, while still effective you lose some capability, but I will admit it is a little less obscuring on your target as far as FOV. Battery life is better on the aimpoint, but the battery life on an EOTECH is still really good. It is not an issue as long as you make sure you are prepared. EOTECH's cowitness with the BUIS better IMO as well.




I'll say this though in all fairness...a good shooter is a good shooter with almost any aiming system, whether that be irons, or an optic setup. It basically just comes down to preference.

Today I'm flying for the first time with my weapon well at least on a regular airport type situation. It was real easy. All you have to do is separate your ammo from your weapon ( I put my ammo in a small cardboard box my Cologne came in and then into a mini plelican case), and you have to have a lockable case for your weapon. I just used the hard carry case my Sign came in and used two small combination locks.You go up to the counter agent and say " I want to declare a weapon to put in my stowed luggage" . The agent will ask if it is unloaded. You then say yes then she'll ask you to show her. CALMLY take your weapon out the case and show her a clear and empty chamber and may. She'lol then ask you to sign an unloaded firearm ticket. Then she'll put that in your guncase and then ask you to close and lock it then put it in your stowed luggage. They'll then escort you to the bag scanner and then you are one our way after they give you confirmation. It's too easy and took less than 10 minutes total.My CCW is valid in the states I am visiting so I can carry concealed even away fro Home. Just thought I'd let the guys in here who carry concealed about the process. It's TOTALLY legal as long as you follow the rules and know the gun laws at your destinations.

In the year 2012 I agree with you 100%, 3-4 years ago I would not. You have to remember since the technology in Eotechs are much more advanced they saw lots of growing pains. The USMC issued a recall on them in 2008 I believe. There were lots of issue with the battery terminals draining the battery, disconnecting causing the optic to shut off while firing the weapon, or the batteries leaking in the housing. The Eotech 511/551 was so poor with batteries they discontinued it. 
The current crop of Eotech's, the XPS/EXPS series along with the 553/SU231 that USSOCOM uses, are all models I would have no problem carrying into harms way. They are also more versatile then Aimpoints. You can range targets with the reticle and they perform better with a magnifier. You just have to remember to change the batteries every once in awhile but you also have to remember to clean your weapon every once in a while too so the point is really moot. The main reason why Eotech is preferred above any other optic with SOF is their compatibility with night vision. Check it out yourself.

Word? Good looks. I always feel uneasy when I go trips and don't have mine w/ me. Is there any literature on this? Though we practice policies, u can never be to sure w/ some ppl who have "authority"

Also, do u guys w/ rifles ever feel that you will use them or anything for that matter?

Better to have and not need than to need and not have. And I stress this to everybody that in a home defense situation it goes rifle>shotgun>pistol all the time.

I would think that shotgun would go first in terms of home defense.  It's sheer stopping power and it being less likely to penetrate walls (collateral damage) would seem like a greater benefit than a rifle.  Shotguns are better for close quarters, no?

^Well first off you never, I repeat NEVER fire without ID'ing your target. If they bust in my house I'm creating a static defense in my room so they will have to come to be. By that time they should have announced themselves so, no I don't shoot.

Shotguns aren't bad but they don't beat out an AR in home defense. With shotguns a load that will reliable stop a threat are going to penetrate walls and the spread of buck shot is I believe, 1" for every 10 yards so you still need to aim. Also shotguns do in fact penetrate more than 5.56 rounds. The 5.56 round is light and fast so when it hits a barrier such as a room wall it will start to fragment, buck shot will keep going and anyone who advising using bird-shot is a dumb because bird-shot is for just that, birds. Also look at what your local SWAT team use when conducting a warrant. Hell look at what professional door kickers use when doing CQB, its always an AR style rifle. To me the perfect home defense rifle would be an 11.5" AR with a suppressor, light and a Eotech EXPS2-0 loaded with 75gr BTHP 5.56.

Travelers may only transport unloaded firearms in a locked, hard-sided container in or as checked baggage. Firearms, ammunition and firearm parts, including firearm frames and receivers, are prohibited from carry-on baggage.

Failure to adhere to the following regulations will preclude passengers from traveling with firearms, ammunitions or firearm parts:

• Travelers must declare all firearms to the airline during the ticket counter check-in process.
• The firearm must be unloaded.
• The firearm must be in a hard-sided container.
• The container must be locked. A locked container is defined as one that completely secures the firearm from being accessed. Locked cases that can be pulled open with little effort cannot be brought aboard the aircraft.
• If firearms are not properly declared or packaged, TSA will provide the bag to law enforcement for resolution with the airline. If the issue is resolved, law enforcement will release the bag to TSA so screening may be completed.
• TSA must resolve all alarms of checked luggage. If a locked container containing a firearm alarms, TSA will contact the airline, who will make a reasonable attempt to contact the owner and advise the passenger to go to the screening location. If contact is not made, the container will not be placed on the aircraft.
• If a locked container alarms during screening and is not marked as containing a declared firearm, TSA will cut the lock in order to resolve the alarm.

I would like to see this debate.Because I would like to purchase a weapon for home defense when I get tax money but AR Guy just opened my eyes quite a bit.
