Did the same for me - I guess it's just the same way that a lot of illusions work - it's the relative difference that makes colors look different.

Nothing to do with the dress though - just the photo and the particular lighting.

A bit like this where A and B are the same color but your brain is tricked into seeing them different.

Bruh, lighting has everything to do with it.

The dress is black and blue.

It's in a room with yellow lighting.

That's the reason it appears gold.

I never said anything about the lighting around me. I'm talking about the lighting in the picture, it depends on your perspective of how you see the dress with regards to its surroundings. That picture I posted explains exactly that.

In the pic its clearly black n blue.

If the lighting in the picture had any effect everyone would see the same colors.

Only variable is the individuals surroundings.

That's the crux of it. Being an eye specialist I had a journalist from the BBC call me today wanting me to be on some news show if I could explain it. I told her I can explain how colors look different depending on the light (especially white balance in photos) but that has nothing to do with 2 people observing the same photo and saying they're different. That's just crazy.

Saw the dress yesterday while driving I saw white and gold. My girl saw blue black.

Went on Facebook this AM and it was up there still white and gold. Took a shower and when I checked my phone it was blue black.
