***$$$-NT Sportsbook Thread vol.2- Props props props props props props... EVERYBODY!

What on earth would make you guys bet on UM?

Friday and Saturday W/L

Win:

Bama -14
O$U -25
FSU -43.5
Boise +7
NCSU/Tenn o52.5

Loss:

UGA -38
FIU +2.5
(These two bets were made due to greed and recommendation. Didn't trust my gut)

Today's play:

SMU/Baylor o58.5.

Still evaluating UK/Lville and VT/GT but will likely lay off.

Anyone do 2nd half bets regularly? What trends do you look for?

I bet 2nd half lines a lot...mostly totals tho...there's different scenarios I use like yesterday I took nevada 2nd half...they were up 7 at half and they were +7 2nd half...books basically were telling us they didn't think cal would win straight up...public pounded the line at half and it moved all the way up to 9...to me that was still a trap cause hey we're giving cal 2nd half bets the hook with a 3 point win....long story short I had Nevada and obviously they won...I'm on my phone so I know I made some errors :lol

Can anyone evaluate my method? I'm currently playing a $5 Parlay w/ teams strung along with a straight bet on a decent money line. Any suggestions?

Not quite getting your question...I mean parlays should be for fun only IMO...MLB do offer opportunities to make a nice lil multi team parlay tho....I'm a firm believer in straight bets

I see that some people use a unit system, which I'm sure incorporates a certain method. The method I've been using is I place two bets on the weekend. One bet is dedicated to a three team parlay and the other I will choose my spot and place a straight wager.

EXAMPLE:
Parlay $5 to win $30
SMU vs Baylor
GT vs. VT
Kentucky vs. Louisville

Main Bet
Oregon Ducks 1st Quarter $25 to win $27

Would this be an effective betting method or should I use a unit system?

GT had me worried for a little bit but I knew Al Groh and the VT Offensive Coordinator (In conjunction w/ Logan Thomas) would save the day :hat

Week one of CFB in the books:

Wins:

Vandy +7
Byu -11.5
Boise +7
Alabama -14
G. Tech +8
SMU/Baylor o58.5
Louisville -14
O$U -25
NCSU/UT o52.5
FSU -43.5

Losses:

LSU -43
UGA -38
FIU +2.5

Got stupid and did multiple parlays, none of which hit. I think I was just too caught up in CFB being back. Which in conjunction w/ the 3 units lost on the straight bets that didn't hit definitely affected my total winnings for the week :lol

But I'm up so I can't complain

If your goal is to make money over the long haul, I'd recommend straight bets. & personally I've never really believed in betting different 'unit' sizes on different games. Why should one game be bet on at 5 units and another at 2? Never made sense to me. If I'm capping games, I'm selective (and confident) in each one of them, so I'm not varying sizes except for rare, rare spots. But you can look into Kelly Criterion, which I think is useful (just a little bold and needs tweaking depending on how comfortable you are with things. in short, you're betting a % of your bankroll each time out, so there is variance but depends on your success).

Get a bankroll together and learn to manage your money. That's half the battle.

If this is for entertainment, then there's no harm in parlays - they are fun.

Yeah that's how I normally operate. Did well last year not getting greedy and simply pounding the teams who were covering w/ regularity (LSU, Bama, Wisky, Stanford, etc)

There were times when 3 of the 4, or all 4 hit on the same weekend. Those were great weekends when I had a $100 parlay going w/ them @ the same time. At the rate they were covering, it was worth the risk. I vary amounts based on the goal I have for each week + the amt of confidence I have in the play. Sometimes I buy points just to ensure a cover , other times I will lower the amount. Most of the time I stick w/ my straights to get me where I need to be for the week.

Week 1 CFB:

2-1 straight ups. Penn State snaked me

Hit on a 3 team parlay as well.

Trying my shaky NFL luck for Kickoff Weekend.
