and at least 40 inch (Pasue)

I haven't been current with TVs but i know i don't like LED. Something about it makes everything look fake/cgi.

I'd say go for a Plasma HDTV since they have better color reproduction. I currently have a Samsung Edge-Lit LED TV that I find too bright. Contrast isn't that good, either. But LED TV's power consumption is

.

THIS IS EASY. buy a Panasonic p42st30 . It is using Panasonics Infinite Black panel which has deeeeeepp black levels , the option of motion smoother (i usually keep it off), 3d, and is expected to last 100,000 hours. THIS IS THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK TV.

yes it is 800 dollars but read the reviews it is well worth it.

but you might want to hold off because the new models are coming soon. the p42st50 is expected to be slimmer, reduced glare. brighter and more energy effecient.

but if you want to buy a LED . DO NOT GET ANY 6000 series Samsung they all blow. I worked at Best Buy and we got more returns on that tv more than anything else plus they dont handle motion as good as the Plasma does (granted a plasma is really just 60 herz with a 600 herz subfield but imo it still handles motion better)

Samsung is great pic quality but there sound is horrible, i also heard the Z series from sony is great but i cant speak from experience.

i just bought a 46" samsung LED 6000 hdtv. 120hz. like 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. dope tv. directv came out today and upgraded my dish and box to the hd joint. cant wait to get home from the heat game later to watch the laker game on it lol

its was like 900 bucks from best buy. i've had it for a few weeks. looked up calibrations for it on the net when i first copped, picture if gorgeous. movies come out crazy. i love it so far.

Honestly, as long as you stay with the 3 S's you'll be good. Sony, Sharp, Samsung.

If you're adventurous enough, save a little more and go projector.  Optoma HD 66 is 600$ on Amazon-- 100" fixed frame screen can be had for 250 give or take.  I've got two set up in my crib and nothing beats them... well worth the investment.

If money is a serious factor here I would buy the cheapest one you can find at Bestbuy. Dynex or Insignia. get the 120 1080P and you can probably get a 60 inch. Now the whole deal here is you have to get the 4 year unlimited coverage plan for this to be worth it. If anything goes wrong you can return it. They send it back to the company and either fix it or give you a new TV just as good or store credit, your choice. Something is bound to go wrong in 2 or 3 years with any TV even if it is the smallest thing and by then it will not be worth it for them to fix it. Take it in. Wait the 2 weeks it takes for them to send to factory and then walla store credit for equal value and at that point prices will probably have dropped and you could buy a 70 inch by then.

I got a 42 sharp aquos 1080 LCD. Loooove it. Purchased about 3 yrs ago.. Iam sure you can cop for lessthan 800 now with all the new atuff out OP.-UNDFT-

I'd be interested in the projector route but I'm just not handy enough to set mine up. Any good forums for that? AVS?

yea, I used AVS a lot before having a go at it-- it's a fun venture..minimal trial and error.

Trying to get what your looking for $700 is kinda tough. The closest I could find something I'd actually recommend is  40" Sony LED 120hz via Best Buy. You can use this link to look at the TV. If you can wait, the new models come out late next month or March. This means the older models will be on clearence at really decent prices. Also, look to see if you state is having a tax free weekend. My state is having one next month that is coinciding with some Best Buy sales happening in order to get some people to spend $.

Samsung televisions really fell off in 2011. But if you do get one because of brand preference (like I said in my previous post I prefer a panasonic plasma ) I would get the Samsung LCD 630 OVER A 6000 series LED . But if you really want a Samsung LED get a 7000 or 8000 series .

Get a plasma . Samsung offers some great ones as well (not as good as Panasonic ). They offer the pn7000 and pn8000 series .

Look into the ST series Panasonic plasmas .
